Global Category Manager, Polymers

CooperSurgical Trumbull, CT –Remote Position (This role can be located anywhere)

Position Summary

The Global Category Manager will develop and implement sourcing strategies that secure the best total value for the good and services of Cooper Surgical purchases worldwide. You will establish strategic direction and ongoing management of assigned categories for direct materials, partnering with Operations, R&D, Regulatory and Quality to identify supply chain opportunities in these Category areas. The Global Category Manager will develop and maintain a qualified supply base, while understanding technology trends and market influences. This position will also maintain overall business ownership of specific categories to include managing, facilitating, and monitoring communications with suppliers and Cooper Surgical employees.

You Will:

  • Gather market intelligence and trends for relevant categories and associated sub [1]categories
  • Conduct Supplier Business Reviews
  • Rationalize existing supplier base through stratification, market analysis, supplier development, and supplier consolidation.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Perform market analysis in identifying best cost country sourcing of said category, provide guidance to R&D and Tech Ops with supplier innovations.
  • Develop tier 1 supplier capability roadmaps; understand tier 2 critical suppliers and materials.
  • Perform RF(x) events to drive competitive pressure and ensure maximum value is realized
  • Demonstrate leadership, customer service, problem solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organizational skills
  • Identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities in partnership with OPS manufacturing strategy
  • Travel domestically and internationally upwards of 30%
  • Interact and partner with OPS, Supplier Quality, R&D, Legal, and other key stakeholder groups
  • Perform additional responsibilities or assignments as directed by management.
  • Negotiate contracts that provide year-over-year benefits in performance for all aspects of quality, service, innovation, and cost.

You Have:

  • Knowledge of working in FDA regulated industries
  • Positive and energetic team player with strong cross-functional team experience
  • 10+ years or more experience in Strategic Sourcing.
  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, problem solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in supply chain, engineering, economics, law, business, or equivalent.
  • Global Category Management experience (Strategy Development and Execution in accordance to Strategic Sourcing methodology)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to partner with and influence internal technical experts
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $100,000 and $155,000. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
