Building Inspector Jobs

Position Description
The purpose of this position is to preserve safe building conditions by ensuring the quality and integrity of residential and commercial buildings. This is accomplished by inspecting buildings and enforcing code standards, regulations and ordinances. Other duties may include examining plans and specifications, preparing reports, providing information and assistance to contractors, builders and citizens, resolving concerns and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. Retirement

Vacation, Holidays and Sick Leave
The city offers vacation and sick leave, as well as ten paid holidays. Full time employees earn two weeks of vacation during their first year of employment and 10 hours of sick leave a month. What We're Looking For
General Building Inspector - Six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. A combination of at least four years of
experience as a building inspector, code enforcement officer, plumber or
electrician. Valid Texas Class C Drivers License. Must obtain a certification from the International Code Council Energy Code Inspector (ICC) with in one year of employment. Possession of a plumbing inspector"s license from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners is required, or one must be obtained within six months of employment as a condition of continued employment. Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
