The Team


The Digital Gaming team’s mission is to expand Mattel’s ever growing IP catalog in the digital gaming space. This includes outbound IP licensing of our brands to 3rd party game developers/publishers and partnering with other companies for co-development. The team is comprised of individuals from various backgrounds to tackle the key challenges such as marketing, business development/licensing, UX/UI and production.


You will report into the Sr. Director, Business Development of Digital Games. You will oversee a smaller area of the department which includes but is not limited to managing partnerships and contracts on a day-to-day level as deals are secured.


The Opportunity


The Digital Gaming team is seeking an Associate Manager, Business Development who will help the team drive Mattel’s gaming business forward. We need someone who is driven, smart, hard-working and willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. The Associate Manager, Business Development- Digital Gaming is in an empowered role to help manage the efficiency of the Digital Games Business Development team.


This role is a great fit for anyone who loves video games, a dynamic working environment and loves working with partners. This role needs to be able to forge internal and external relationships to help expand the business.


What Your Impact Will Be


  • Contract negotiation for any new deals or amendments to existing deals
  • Partnership management of existing mobile licensee partners
  • Day-to-day management and support of existing partners including reporting, forecasting, modeling, and contract management
  • Drive value creation through mobile licensing partnerships with mobile game companies globally
  • Coordination with various internal teams, including but not limited to Global Brand Team (GBT), Marketing, Legal, Franchise, and Finance
  • Powerpoint building and excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Expand our IP slate into new mobile games with previously unreleased IP
  • Liaise with internal teams (legal, finance, accounting, global brand teams, and franchise) by providing regular updates
  • Participate in the entire process from closing deals with best-in-class partners to aiding in contract negotiation and supporting Production from a deal alignment perspective


What We’re Looking For


  • Some contract negotiation experience is required
  • Pulse on the latest trends in video games
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
  • Strong candidates will be good communicators, well organized, and able to prioritize multiple and competing priorities
  • Manage CMS and Internal systems such as Pipedrive and Rights Logic
  • Ability to travel and attend various trade shows/conferences
  • BA/BS in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years in video game or licensing business development required (3 years OK with advanced education)


Preferred Requirements


  • Experience and knowledge of the video game market is a plus
  • Previous Licensing Experience is a plus
  • Passion for toys, gaming, web3/NFTs, the metaverse, kids/family entertainment and/or early childhood learning & development


The annual base salary range for this position is between $85,600 and $129,000.
  • This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
