Assistant Manager, Billing & Accounts Receivable

This position supervises the day-to-day billing activities of the verification, billing and follow-up staff.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school graduate and four years of medical billing experience required.
  • Four-year degree may substitute for four years of medical billing experience.
  • Two-year degree may substitute for two years of medical billing experience.
• Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding and claims processing required.
• Excellent communication skills are required, including staff interaction, patient relations, conflict resolution, dissemination of information and the ability to interact with physicians and in management forums.
• Excel and Word skills are required.
• The ability to multitask, prioritize, problem solve and achieve successful outcomes and function effectively in a team environment are necessary attributes of the successful incumbent.
• Two-year degree may substitute for two years of medical billing experience.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills are required.
• Four-year degree may substitute for four years of medical billing experience.
• Epic billing system and supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Should be able to deal effectively and aggressively with reimbursement issues and represent the financial interests of the University of Florida in a professional and positive manner.
• A demonstrated knowledge of managed care contracting, outcomes and medical reimbursement, including commercial payers, federal and state programs, procedures and guidelines.
