Surgery Scheduler - AMG-Urology (Physician Office)

Familiarity with an electronic practice management system preferred

One (1) year of experience in a surgery scheduling setting and/or two (2) years of clinical back office experience required

Excellent interpersonal organizational and customer service skills required

Experience with multi-line phones/ACD phones preferred

Document and input into IDX all HMO surgery authorization requests

Maintains master surgery calendar for physicians;

Requests authorizations and pre-authorization referrals for surgical procedures;

Procures required surgery equipment and supplies;

Interviews patients regarding medical history and prescribed medications;

Maintains files, records and databases regarding surgery schedules, and backup logs pertaining to pending patient surgeries;

Inputs appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases 9 (ICD-9) codes into the computer system for billing purposes;

Knowledge of medical computerized scheduling systems and surgery scheduling procedures preferred

2 years related experience in a healthcare environment required.

Ability to provide clear and effective communication skills.
