Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Enters referrals in computer system and sends to Managed Care for authorization.

One year of EPIC experience preferred.

Collaborates with physician offices from other departments to obtain referrals, medical clearances and pertinent diagnostic and lab test.

Verifies patient demographics and insurance information

Forwards documentation to financial counselors for prior authorizations.

Excellent computer skills required. Specific knowledge of Electron Health Records (EHR) Software and Practice Management (PM) Software is strongly preferred.

Required: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communicate with referring physician (via letter/fax) explaining preoperative requirements and obtaining medical clearance.

Notify patient’s insurance and perform necessary preauthorization or precertification.

Work with practice manager to insure appropriate amount of surgical blocks/availability. Move clinic patients as necessary to accommodate surgery.

1-2 years related experience and/or training.

Inform patients of their financial responsibilities.

Obtains and/or facilitates pre-certification as required.

2 years previous healthcare experience.

Experience in a customer service role.

Previous experience with an electronic medical records system.

$10,000 Tuition Reimbursement per year ($5,700 part-time)

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

Work may occasionally require travel to other facilities/hospitals.
