We are hiring a Senior Director of Wholesale to join our growing commerce team and lead our wholesale efforts. The Senior Director is responsible for implementing sales strategies that lead to thoughtful expansion of our retail footprint across all of our brands, achieving our departmental goals, and leading the wholesale team to success. Candidates should have a proven track record of building out high-performing sales teams, growing talent at various levels, and creating strategic annual plans for the team to execute against. This is a full-time position based in New York, NY.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets, mentor and grow the team, and expand our retail footprint
- Build & maintain strong relationships with strategic retail partners, understanding their business objectives and positioning our offering to align with their needs
- Review market trends and shift strategy as needed to identify new distribution and business opportunities
- Leverage POS and customer data to help inform decisions, translating into actionable plans that drive sales
- Work cross functionally with finance to develop annual, seasonal, and monthly forecasts, inventory planning, and consistent margin analysis to ensure we are on target for our goals
- Work with internal stakeholders on organizational planning and resourcing to build the team with critical hires to achieve our goals
- Identify opportunities to increase our market share within existing and target new retail accounts
- Strategically select the proper distribution channels for our brands, ensuring that we balance short term revenue with long term brand integrity and sustainability
- Manage & develop a high performing team through coaching and training, setting clear category objectives and guidance for growth
- Align with Brand Management & Marketing teams on upcoming content focuses, new product development, and launches
- Consistently examine and pursue growth & improvement opportunities within each of our retail categories
- Lead reporting efforts to senior leadership on sales performance, forecasts, and existing pipeline, along with updates on key customer relationships
- Continuously find ways to leverage Barstool’s unique value proposition and variety of brands to drive growth at retail
- Direct the team to effectively execute on our sales plan to meet or exceed the revenue goals and hit our margin targets, taking responsibility for the department’s performance
- Able to present internally to management, and externally to partners
- Have personally managed a variety of retail partnerships across multiple retail categories including big box, sporting goods & outdoors, and lifestyle accounts; experience working with a retail broker is a plus
- Ability to collect and analyze available data to help drive business decisions
- 10+ years of experience in a sales position within a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
- Works well under the pressure of revenue targets and stringent deadlines
- Proven track record of achieving results
- Works comfortably cross functionally, while also self-motivated with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
- 4+ years of experience leading a sales organization, ability to lead with a unified vision and motivate the team to achieve overall goals
