Position Title: VP Sales and Commercial North America

Location: North America


Job Overview and key duties:

  • Lead and direct the Marketing team on the deployment of marketing strategy and activities.
  • In collaboration with the VP Finance, ensure price costings systems are accurate to ensure correct pricing and margins for the market
  • Develop an ambitious and capable team across NA that will build on and leverage the existing team. Drive a culture of setting and continuously achieving sales goals and lead through IPL Values. Coach and support during the negotiations on sales contracts for projects in development
  • Build and manage key relationships on behalf of the business, embed the use of CRM to ensure there is full customer visibility across the business. Communicate and provide sales report activities to divisional management and Company Leadership. Support the wider management team on any reporting or information needs
  • Collaborate on market and product portfolio strategy with fact-based insights;
  • Complete regular performance reviews, manage attendance, disciplinary issues and procedures as appropriate
  • Be a major contributor to the on-going development of the Company’s sales strategy including input into product and service roadmaps. Involvement in all the strategic decisions relating to managing global accounts in local markets; cross-selling models; pricing and positioning strategies versus competition.

  • Collaborate with all functions across NA (Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, HR) on developing and implementing strategic plans to reach objectives. Educate on market intelligence and other relevant learnings.
  • Successful execution of agreed plans to meet ambitious, achievable sales targets through strong leadership and excellence in sales management.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and management to the team.
  • Responsible for budgeting, forecasting and financial performance of the function in line with legal, regulatory and Company policies
  • Lead and build a team in North America to deliver ambitious growth targets. Manage and oversee the Sales and Commercial activities, including marketing and Customer Service.
  • Accountable for driving market Growth, with a healthy pipeline and Customer Satisfaction across the North America business while understanding our competitor profiles in those markets.
  • Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety of staff and visitors
  • Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and in order to implement change and improvements


Essential experience and skills:

  • Ability to collaborate and bridge across functional boundaries.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills. Ability to assign priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Highly self-motivated to develop strategic, tactical, and operational direction
  • Strong business acumen and able to develop a team that supports operations with a focus on both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Advanced consulting, influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to ensure strategic alignment with multiple parties.
  • 15–20 years of experience working in a Commercial Sales and Marketing role in a Manufacturing environment with increasing roles of responsibility.
  • Ability to perform consistently with IPL Values.
  • Ability to develop and sustain a high performing team.
  • Ability to travel as needed
