Description

POSITION VISIONThis position is accountable for the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, selection and retention of sales and marketing staff, supervision of advertising, guidance and direction of direct sales activities, and all reporting and controls which are generated for tracking and performance review purposes for Wright Beverage Distributing’s entire distribution network.


QUANTIFIABLE POSITION OBJECTIVES


  • Is responsible for ensuring an efficient and concise communication structure is in place within the Sales, Chain and Marketing departments.
  • Maintain budget adherence for all sales & marketing department functions including sales labor budget.
  • Ensures completion of annual marketing plans and supplier service policies on schedule
  • Attain sales revenue and gross profit goals.
  • Visibility in the market (e.g. 4 days/month).
  • Purchase authorizations within budget.
  • Attends at least 30 Key Account Calls throughout the year and follows recap protocol.
  • Ensure compliance to the company’s approved supplier standards (i.e. Market standards, annual audits, quality standards, etc.).
  • Achieve volume, distribution, and market share goals.
  • Achievement of targeted supplier marketing expense co-op ratios.


QUALITATIVE POSITION OBJECTIVES


  • Maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers and key retailers.
  • Build profitable portfolio depth with high end and smaller suppliers.
  • Provide training to and development of direct reports.
  • Establish/mentor a successor; develop direct reports into true managers.
  • Execute personal development initiatives as set forth by the COO.
  • Oversee short-term and long-term strategic/tactical plans to increase sales and distribution of all brands.


PLANNING AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT


  • Conducts PRC meetings and ensures adherence to product schedule.
  • Monitor and make recommendations for brand / package deletions.
  • Responsible for coordinating pricing meetings and approving all frontline and discount pricing.
  • Ensures trade practices are followed according to SLA guidelines.
  • Review development, execution and effectiveness of local marketing programs in coordination with the Marketing Director.
  • Create and submit the annual sales and marketing plans and budgets for approval.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with direct reports to review performance metrics and oversee implementation of such plans.
  • Oversee and offer direction to Brand-marketing calendar development.
  • Identify and research new suppliers / brands.
  • Annual performance reviews of all direct reports: Sales Managers, Chain Director, Marketing Director
  • Monitor effectiveness of communication protocol for sales and marketing.
  • Approve all supplier incentives and programs to better fit the market and specialized sales organization.


SALES AND MARKETING MANAGEMENT


  • Analyze all sales and marketing performance-related data; review with direct reports monthly or more frequently as needed.
  • Ensure all direct reports are in compliance with required time in the market.
  • Attend monthly and annual business plan meetings; review sales/marketing updates.
  • Review and approve all weekly expense reports for direct reports.


CUSTOMER RELATIONS


  • Attend supplier meetings as required (e.g. midyear reviews, annual planning).
  • Attend Key Account reviews and provide input to maximize The Wright Group’s presence in these accounts.
  • Address all customer complaints with direct reports.
  • Attend key supplier and industry annual conventions.
  • Actively maintain and strengthen appropriate peer-level supplier/Retailer relationships.


Minimum/Preferred Qualifications And Requirements


  • Minimum: Proficient in Microsoft Applications, strong communication skill including verbal and written. Proficient in Microsoft office applications, especially Power Point.

  • Minimum: Five years in sales and marketing/management role.
  • Minimum: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Any experience in Spirit and Beverage industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to drive for short or long distances. The employee must be able to use a computer, including typing and using a mouse.


WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONSMust be comfortable interacting with retail accounts. Exposed to all weather conditions due toamount of travel associated with position. Ability to drive to branch locations on regular basis asrequired and ability to travel overnight for supplier meetings and conventions.


ADDITIONAL COMMENTSMust hold a valid, clean NYS driver’s license that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
