Job Description
The Vice President of Distribution Operations will lead multi-site, multi-state distribution center operations and provide world class service at competitive costs to the Reece USA customer base. Key goals will be to assess current team and generate development opportunities to grow as a team. Drive initiatives across six pillars of DC performance – safety, service, productivity, cost to serve, inventory integrity and logistics. Develop and implement strategy for future go to market model while acting with a sense of urgency and customer service focus.

KEY INTIATIVES
  • Assess operations for opportunities to improve productivity and lower costs.
  • Ensure security of inventory and DC sites.
  • Develop strategy for emerging go to market initiatives (example, Plumbing R&R).
  • Build and support strong safety culture.
  • Lead 7-10 distribution centers across the sunbelt states, with ability to assess and improve operations.
  • Assess current team to identify opportunities to grow the skillset of the existing team.
  • Operate with a sense of urgency with strong customer service focus.
TASKS
  • Oversee budget for assigned operations.
  • Monitor suppliers' activities to assess performance in meeting quality or delivery requirements.
  • Develop procedures for coordination of distribution management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, merchandising, and transformation.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure inventory integrity through receiving, warehousing, and shipping that supports organizational goals.
  • Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success.
  • Prepare distribution models to help facilitate discussions with customers.
  • Design and implement distribution processes that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
  • Confer with distribution planners to forecast demand and create supply plans that ensure availability of products, i.e., right products, right places, right times, right costs.
  • Implement new or improved distribution processes to improve efficiency or performance.
  • Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes and predict effects on distribution activities.
  • Design and implement warehousing activities that produce improved productivity and lower costs.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce DOH, improve in-stock rates, reduce waste, and optimize customer service.
  • Evaluate and select information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials or products distribution, storage, or inventory.
  • Participate in the coordination of distribution center changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.
  • Determine appropriate equipment and staffing levels run operations in lean environment.
  • Document physical distribution processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
  • Deploy performance metrics (KPI’s) for measurement, comparison, and evaluation of distribution performance.
  • Review or update distribution practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, or laws.
