Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Lead the human resource and talent management functions for BHE Renewables, including recruiting; staffing; employee and organizational development; monitoring employee engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion and the effectiveness of associated improvement programs; employee relations; employment compliance obligations and general human resources support and reporting for the company. Coordinate with Berkshire Hathaway Energy human resources on compensation, benefits, payroll and compliance matters.
Typical Duties
Lead recruiting and selection strategies and processes to fill vacancies. Responsible for management of workforce planning and monitoring staffing levels within company budgets. Develop and maintain affirmative action plans; identify and address employment compliance requirements in various jurisdictions in which the company operates. Develop and implement action plans to improve diversity, equity and inclusion in the recruiting process. Establish and maintain connections with recruiters, local communities, educational institutions, industry associations, industry peers and others to support effective and timely recruiting for diverse talent in all areas of the business. (25%)
Monitor and analyze employee engagement and inclusion and develop actions plans to deliver continuous improvement. Monitor and analyze turnover to develop and implement strategies for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion and employee retention. (10%)
Lead performance management, succession planning, compensation and training and organizational initiatives and development strategies. Work with Berkshire Hathaway Energy human resources to facilitate succession planning, individual development plans, and company scorecards. (20%)
Responsible for the handling of all employee relations matters. Conduct investigations and complete related follow up in response to employee complaints and ethics and compliance hotline reports. (15%)
Coordinate annual benefit enrollment and facilitate communications with employees and management in conjunction with BHE Renewables communications department and Berkshire Hathaway Energy benefits department. (5%)
Facilitate time entry and payroll processing in conjunction with Berkshire Hathaway Energy payroll department. (5%)
Ensure compliance with and implementation of human resources policies and federal, state and local employment regulations regarding human resource issues. (10%)
Develop strategic and operational plans for management and improvement of human resource capabilities and for ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Participate in the development of annual business plans. (10%)
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Eight years of progressive related experience, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
Must be a self-motivated individual who is flexible and can effectively manage several projects at the same time.
Must be able to periodically travel to company’s various operational locations to support on site personnel and initiatives.
Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
