Job Summary
Irby Utilities is seeking a VP of Finance that will drive and promote our leadership mindset of Adapt, Dare and Learn. At Irby Utilities, our leaders are focused on building customer centric strategies, inspiring, empowering and developing associates, adapting to change, and driving organizational efficiencies to deliver results.
The Vice President of Finance is a member of the executive team responsible for providing business and financial leadership. This position has dual reporting lines to the Irby Utilities President and the Sonepar Central Region VP of Finance.
Business and Financial Leadership
- Provide accurate, timely and meaningful reporting, including analytics to highlight areas for improvement and cost savings, more specifically ensure a close follow-up of discretionary, adaptable, and controllable costs.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of action plans and recommendations made by internal or external auditors or by Sonepar Internal Control team in a timely manner.
- Assess, manage, and minimize risk of accounts receivable and inventory levels to ensure optimal financial performance.
- Communicate and report transparently to the Sonepar VP of Finance for Central Region.
- Understand and help control sales investments, gross margin evolution, and assist other departments in gross margin improvement initiatives.
- Provide financial guidance on contracts, agreements, and proposals, and liaise with Corporate legal department.
- Ensure that a strong and reliable internal control framework exists in the Company, with enhancement and adaptation in collaboration with other functional leaders, to develop and implement procedures improving operational excellence and effectively managing risks.
- Prepare and present regular monthly and annual financials and financial models for strategic initiatives and investments such as new branches, CDCs, expansions and relocations, acquisitions, and significant capex investments internally or to Sonepar.
- Continuous financial review to control and monitor the business and improve its performance.
- Collaborate with other functional leaders including Sales, Operations, Pricing, Purchasing, and HR to drive process improvement through the organization.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Anticipate and foresee evolution of the financial aspects of the Company, and inform management of trends, evolutions, risks and opportunities.
- Develop and prepare metrics and reports for operations, regions, and branches.
- Prepare management commentary and financial presentations.
- Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts at the Company and branch level, including analysis against actual performance.
- Support Sonepar FP&A on required reporting and analysis.
Finance Operations
- Manage and develop the team of local financial operations resources, including the Credit team.
- Enforce all Sonepar policies, ensuring controls are in place and operating effectively.
- Develop appropriate customer and vendor relationships to manage assets.
- Manage the T&E and inventory corporate card program within the Concur platform.
Accounting
- Collaborate and maintain a strong relationship with Shared Services and the Corporate Finance team including Tax, Treasury, Risk Management, and M&A.
- Research and resolve accounting issues, including development of accounting estimates.
- Financial ownership of all accounts.
- Manage internal and external audits of various types.
Qualifications
- Proven track record as a leader who can solve problems and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and ERP systems. Experience with Eclipse ERP a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Supervisory experience as direct manager of a department with responsibility for hiring, accountability, performance reviews, team development, etc.
- Self-motivated, curious, critical thinker with a high sense of urgency.
- 15+ years of financial management, with experience in distribution industry preferred.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally when required.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A or B.S.) from a 4-year college or University in Accounting/Finance; With CPA/MBA and knowledge of IFRS a plus.
