Vice President Finance & Accounting

Vice President Finance & Accounting


The Vice President Finance & Accounting is responsible for leading the accounting team and overseeing accounting, tax, payroll and financial reporting processes. This role works strategically and collaboratively across company-wide functional teams including in particular finance, systems, development and legal. This leader will be instrumental in supporting Hart Energy's growth by continuing to proactively enhance systems and processes to scale the accounting function.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting. Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial information necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Create and foster continuous improvement between internal teams and develop strategies to improve the efficiency of financial operations. Management of liability and worker's compensation insurance.
  • Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Maintain accounting system, banking, payroll vendor relationships, including managing the software platform for each.
  • Oversee processing of bi-weekly payroll through third party provider and administration of 401K submissions. Central point of contact for payroll-related changes and issues.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance. Ensure timely and accurate reporting for all legal entities.
  • Treasury and cash forecasting leadership.
  • Continually assess and enhance internal controls and processes surrounding financial reporting and accounting. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.
  • Maintain and improve rolling cash forecast, management of monthly reporting, and assist with the preparation of annual GAAP budget.
  • Experience with board member and investor interaction
  • Lead and ensure timely annual audit, 401K audit, and tax deadlines are met.

  • Passion for utilizing technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of department's work product, and financial reporting. Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software implementations and managing relationships with software vendors. Advanced knowledge of accounting software.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, self-starter, quick learner, and possesses a strong ownership.


Working Conditions


  • Frequently required to maintain a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Regularly required to lift/move up to 5 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds, occasionally required to lift/move up to 15 pounds.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Vision requirements include ability to observe details at close range and ability to adjust focus.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, including but not limited to keyboard usage and other office productivity machinery, etc.
  • Ability to position self to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must be able to move or traverse inside/outside the office.

Qualifications


  • Experience with HubSpot is a plus
  • In office position
  • 10+ years of related accounting experience, with 5+ years management experience. Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility and fiduciary responsibility.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in the digital media, print media, data and/or event industry is a plus
  • CPA license required, expired or active.
  • Strong written, verbal and collaborative skills.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct including ability to create reports.


Education


  • Bachelor's degree, B.S. in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related financial discipline.
