Job Description

Overview /Objective
The Vice President, Sponsorship Strategy & New Business will report to the SVP of Sponsorship & Partnership Management. This role is responsible for securing new, blue-chip sponsors for the NFL and the strategy behind the sponsorship business. The position will work closely with the Partnership Management team and a myriad of internal departments across the NFL.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to budget planning and long-range plan management
  • Develop a deep understanding of the NFL brand and the type of partnerships that align with our objectives and strategy
  • Manage specific P&L for new biz and develop P&Ls for each deal that align with overall sponsorship goals
  • Be the pivotal link to connect new business initiatives across the league by fostering internal relationships
  • Possess advanced knowledge of the sponsorship marketplace and C-level relationships with agency and client decision makers, extensive relationships in the business necessary for role.
  • Provide strategy, analysis and insight on all new business development opportunities and overall sponsorship business.
  • Drive revenue for NFL through new partnerships with blue-chip brands to optimize portfolio of partners and build successful pipeline for future growth
  • Possess the ability to detect trends in the marketplace in order to identify new prospects and proactively explore market in renewal categories
  • Dynamic presentation and communication skills
  • Develop the overall new biz strategy including renewal strategies, category analysis, supporting development of alternative models/deal structures, and vetting new partnership concepts and structures internally
  • Develop strategy on how to engage the market externally (e.g conferences, hospitality, networking)
  • Support the development of key initiatives across the league working collaboratively across departments
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in category analysis, asset development and financial planning.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and deliver a collaborative approach to the business issues at hand.
  • Extensive experience in relationship management, networking, and hosting.
  • Experience working with C-level executives, and cross-functionally across all levels of management
  • Minimum of 15 years experience with focus on sales of seven figure long term deals, sports and agency experience preferred.
  • Must have good financial and analytical skills and be adept at prioritizing in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience leading a team with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Strong understanding of the media and sponsorship environment with a focus of the sponsorship discipline as it relates to sports and show ability to adapt to the changes in markets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven management experience leading a team of direct reports
  • Experience working with CRM applications
  • Solid understanding of the marketing, media, technology, and sports industries
  • Must be able to operate in a dynamic environment managing multiple work streams and team members across broad fields

Salary / Pay Range
This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
