Primary mission:
The primary mission of the Vice President of Operations of Lifestyle Properties (VPO) is to oversee a portfolio of lifestyle hotels & resorts for a company at the forefront of hospitality management.
The VPO will ensure revenue and profitability goals are met by overseeing the financial success of a portfolio of independent, upscale and upper upscale hotels in premium locations, while also providing leadership, mentorship and direction to implement Springboard and owners' vision and strategy. The VPO will coach and oversee GMs and property teams to be market leaders, set lifestyle marketing direction for hotels and resorts, and oversee all operational functions for the portfolio, ultimately delivering exceptional guest experiences, property-wide programming activations, on-brand F&B and unique hotel experiences. The VPO will act as a conduit to ensure property teams have full access to Springboard's corporate resources and serve as an ongoing liaison with property ownership.
The VPO will work very closely with the President & CEO and Executive Vice President to ensure alignment of goals, acting as an expert at analyzing and communicating hard and soft data, a catalyst for action, a manager who keeps projects organized and moving forward and a team-builder who ensures local operations are supported to achieve goals and drive revenue. As the senior leader for the lifestyle collection of properties, the VPO will be responsible for working with business development teams to renovate, open and transition new lifestyle hotels in our portfolio.
The VPO will travel to some of the most exceptional places of natural beauty, including Mammoth, Stowe, Jackson, and Yosemite.
SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM
- Responsible for overseeing a portfolio of lifestyle hotels inclusive of maintaining successful relationships with property teams and owners, while maximizing all KPIs.
- Reports to Executive Vice President.
- Part of Corporate Operations team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Coordination
- Work collaboratively with other Springboard VPOs.
- Be an active member Springboard’s Senior Leadership Team to help create and execute the company’s vision.
- Represent Springboard as the key point of contact for General Managers and hotel owners.
- Ensure GMs and property teams have full support from Springboard corporate revenue generation, finance, sales and marketing and other internal and outside resources.
- Play a key role in the industry and supporting GMs by working with local/government leaders.
- Serve as coach, mentor, and team-builder for GMs and other senior managers.
Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE
Prior Experience
- 10+ years in hotel management; 5+ years experience as a multi-property operations leader required.
Subject Expertise
- Ability to perform ad-hoc and critical financial and strategic analysis.
- Experience with independent boutique hotels, including renovations and re-launches.
- Knowledge of branding and how to ensure consistent messaging throughout the guest journey.
- Experience leading and coordinating teams (both internal and external).
- Experience in activating hotels and resorts and creating unique guest experiences.
- Ability to build, manage and report on multiple budgets with continual focus on profit and loss.
- Proven experience managing high-volume hospitality operations.
- Understanding of capital planning and how to manage capex throughout a hotel life cycle.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, pricing and inventory control.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in excel and an understanding of hotel accounting
- Exceptional verbal & written communication skills
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office technology, inclusive of the ability to build proformas
- Adaptable experience with hotel property management systems
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
- Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.
Working Conditions:
- Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
- Ability to travel on short notice and adaptable to schedule changes. Must welcome travel!
