Job Description
Why Choose Us?
Novolex® is a leader in packaging innovation, choice and sustainability. We manufacture products in paper, plastic and sustainable materials for the food, retail, health and industrial markets.
Our Sustainability Commitment
The Novolex sustainability vision is built upon three pillars: our products, our operations and our people. Each is critically important to our growth and future as a business. These pillars form the foundation of our company-wide commitment to sustainability, helping us achieve our ambitious goals through our wide-ranging initiatives.
How You'll Perform The Role
The Vice President will be responsible for planning and setting pricing strategy and objectives for the assigned Business Units . She/he will lead all efforts to build a world-class pricing function that ensures the organization is able to set, implement, and execute the optimal market price for a broad portfolio of products. This position is a key member of the Segment and BU leadership teams and is an equal partner to the BU functional leaders. This role works cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, Product / Market Development, Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP), Manufacturing Operations, Supply Management, and Finance teams.
The VP will consider how new business models can impact our sales channel strategies, keeping customer needs at the center of our plan. She/he will help the organization rethink how it brings a broader set of offerings to customers. The VP will challenge assumptions and solicit real-time market feedback. As a critical business partner to the commercial organization, the VP will be responsible for coaching the sales organization on margin enhancement strategies while helping them secure profitable growth and protect market share.
She/he takes a holistic approach that accounts for external factors such as customer and competitor behavior, market/consumer trends as well as internal factors such as costs, processes, manufacturing footprint and information technology to help guide the business towards sustainable profitable growth. The VP also works with Sales in setting the appropriate channel incentives (rebate programs, marketing allowances etc.) and provides enterprise-wide visibility to pricing tradeoffs.
  • Review customers contracts to ensure appropriate commercial terms are included – help the Sales team negotiate a win-win supply agreement.
  • Partner with Product Management and New Product Development groups to launch the right products with the right channel/customer incentive and pricing.
  • Design and implement business processes to create and control customer rebate programs that are consistent across BUs.
  • Evaluate and maintain market price integrity while understanding the competitive environment.
  • Lead and mentor the Commercial & Pricing Strategy teams.
  • Work with Supply Management on understanding raw material market drivers and changes in costs; promptly determine impact of raw material cost increases and take action to mitigate them; provide feedback to Supply Management on data and intelligence gathered from sales and customers.
  • Develop, execute commercial and pricing strategies, analyze / assess the performance of these strategies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Enhance pricing analytics to measure true customer and product line profitability and enable salespeople with insights to accelerate growth.
What We Need From You
Leadership Attributes
  • 3-Dimensional Thinking: Ability to address business issues and problems from a multi-functional view, what is optimal for the business, not just a pricing viewpoint; thinks beyond the numbers; deals with concepts, ambiguity, and complexity comfortably.
  • Change Management: Is open minded, drives self and team to continually search for, initiate, and implement business process improvements both in the pricing function and broader business; leads by example of ‘simpler, faster and more accurate’ processes.
  • Drive to go above and beyond, desire to learn, willingness to make the time commitment needed to achieve excellence and to meet deadlines with compressed timelines.
  • People Management: Ability to train and mentor team members; set challenging goals, share progress, celebrate success, and hold team members accountable for their goals, reward right behaviors; get team members ready for their next career goal.
  • Ability to manage ever changing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work; can maintain composure under strong and multiple external pressures.
  • Decision Making: Must be able to make independent fact-based decisions in a quick and responsive manner; uses a rational thought process by applying broad knowledge of markets (customers, competitors, suppliers, Novolex).
  • Results Driven: Demonstrates a high degree of personal motivation to ‘get things done’ with speed and accuracy; able to translate business unit objectives into clear and concise goals for self and team; relentless pursuit to achieve goals despite obstacles and hurdles.
Education & Experience
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time.
  • 5 – 10 years of management experience building and leading a high functioning team.
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, or in sales, customer service, product management or marketing would be a strong plus.
  • 5 plus years of experience in an analytical and strategic role (Pricing, Business Analysis, Strategic Marketing, Business Development, Finance).
  • Exceptional financial analytical skills and experience building financial profit/cost models.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Four-year college degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or Finance.
