About the Company
EnergyTag is a mission-driven non-profit founded in 2020 that brings together hundreds of the world’s leading organizations (e.g Google, Microsoft, AES, and UN Energy…) to define and build a market for hourly energy certificates. This is a critical step towards accelerating the clean energy transition through 24/7 tracking, which ensures consumption is matched with clean energy in the same hour from a location where electricity can be delivered and encourages new clean energy supply.
These certificates are a natural evolution of Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) - also known as Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), which account for the source of energy production and match this with consumption on an annual basis. GCs extend this matching to take into account individual hours and the location of production and consumption, along with the age of the generation plant, and enable improved price signals for produced, consumed and storage energy and better support of carbon accounting. This enhancement of current EAC systems is strongly supported by large consumers (e.g Google, Microsoft), governments (EU, US) and the benefits are demonstrated by robust empirical evidence (IEA, Princeton, MIT).
We are looking for a highly mission-driven candidate with deep knowledge of US energy markets to lead EnergyTag’s work in the US and eventually across the Americas.
Your Mission
- Develop and execute a strategy to enable the rollout of GCs by registries.
- Raise awareness of EnergyTag’s mission and educate regulators and state PUCs on the role and benefits of granular certification.
- Support EnergyTag’s efforts to raise grant funding to expand reach in the Americas.
- Help lead efforts to promote granular accounting in GHG Protocol scope 2 update.
- Lead EnergyTag’s Americas efforts to transform clean electricity attribute markets.
- Identify and facilitate regulatory intervention opportunities to implement hourly matching (e.g Clean hydrogen).
- Support coordination and communications around the EnergyTag standards audit process with EnergyTag’s audit team.
- Coordinate the interests of key EnergyTag stakeholders, from utilities to large buyers.
- Represent EnergyTag at key US stakeholder events and conferences.
Your Skills
- Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- At ease working with large stakeholder groups to find common-ground.
- Experience working with Energy Attribute Certificates.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good working knowledge of the energy (power in particular) markets in the US.
- Minimum five years experience in the US energy sector.
- Established network of contacts in government, academia and the energy sector.
- Team player, and natural leader.
- Deep knowledge of clean energy procurement and Scope 2 carbon accounting
- Mission driven and highly autonomous within a global framework.
The Offer
- Targetted salary range of $120,000 - $145,000 plus benefits.
- Flexible working hours and remote work.
- Opportunity to work in a highly mission-driven environment.
- Unique opportunity to be involved in cutting-edge developments in energy traceability.
