Position Description
Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Major/Essential Functions

• Operation and maintenance of pilot plant and teaching lab, oversee and provide technical support for academic and research labs.
• Design and build new equipment, assist students in building class projects, check out chemicals to students.
• Evaluate spaces, develop floor plans, and identify equipment and furniture for remodeling office, common area, and lab spaces as well as ensuring existing labs have required infrastructure.
• Emergency management, enforce and execute university and departmental safety policies and procedures; serve as afterhours emergency contact in emergency situations.
• Work with business manager, TTU building maintenance and utilities and outside vendors, a diverse group of people in a positive, professional and enthusiastic manner.
• Shipping and receiving of equipment and chemicals, disposing of chemical waste, manage disposal of departmental and college equipment and furniture; troubleshoot equipment and devices, clean out decommissioned research labs, decontaminating and disposing of obsolete equipment, monitor condition of buildings, submit work orders as needed.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
Preferred Qualifications
Electronics, instrumentation. Software such as Labview and National Instruments. AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, and Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 or equivalent program.
