Technical Design Assistant, Men’s Bags and SLGs

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering all design cards for Line Opening and Full Offer, and updates as needed for commercialization
  • Maintain all elements of a Design Card through development process: clean full scale technical sketches, dimensions, & proportions, materials placement, alternate views, detail view, hardware and thread list
  • Key communicator of technical information in regards to achieving design aesthetic intent and clarity of design card information from DC handoff through product approval
  • Provide technical insight into new silhouette development
  • Own design card scrub on behalf of Design for technical accuracy and suggest options to achieve aesthetic intent and insure design elements are consistent across collections
  • Review samples for corrections including aesthetics, dimensions, hand feel, functionality and workmanship.
  • Create full scale layout options, mockups and revisions after Design review (i.e: color blocking, embossing, scales, artwork placement, engineered embellishment placement, patchwork, details, etc.)
  • Partners with Design and PD to offer options to meet design intent and margin targets for new silhouettes
  • Maintain established standards, details (including hardware) and integrity of the product. Provide technical callouts while reviewing line in its entirety to ensure consistency, resolve technical issues and partner with PD team to ensure comments are communicated

Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of the design & development process from inception through production; experience working with and in global factories.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • 0-2 years work experience in technical design with focus on handbags/leathergoods
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and resourcefulness. Take initiatives to find creative solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Collaborative and builds effective relationships.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; ability to CAD in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, fashion retail environment with strong organizational skills.
  • Leathergoods product construction and engineering required; Advanced knowledge of industry construction standards and manufacturing, including materials (hardware, leather, fabric).
