As an Automation Product Design Engineer 2 you will be responsible for the functions outlined below:

Essential Functions:

• Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
• Determining risk from proposed engineering changes, and risk appropriate precautions and monitoring when making changes.
• Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.
• Support engineering in the maintenance and improvement of current product designs and product drawings through the commercialized life cycle.
• Create/process Change Orders and monitor within Solidworks Manage software to ensure high-quality change implementation.
• Determine risk from proposed engineering changes, and risk appropriate precautions and monitoring when making changes.
• Participate in product design development and review to support design for manufacturability analysis, critical design reviews, and manufacturing readiness deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to complete Engineer Change packages through ECO approval.
• Prepare or edit complex solid models using Solidworks software.
• Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies, and procedures.
• Work with minimal supervision on multiple projects, in a consensus-based team environment.
• Lead as major stakeholder in Engineering Change Management process across the organization and ensure highest standards are met.
• Provide support for verification, qualification, and validation studies on existing products.
• Generate or edit engineering drawings with application of geometric dimensioning and tolerances as needed per standard.
• Support Quality Assurance department and vendors regarding drawing interpretation, manufacturing methods, and inspection methods.
• Work within cross-functional groups that helps the team define problems, goals and solutions - and succeed in reaching those goals
• Monitor and process Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Temporary Deviations.
• Provide support for non-conformance investigations regarding component failures, finished goods failures, and product returns.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of engineering principles including structural/stress analysis and material science, manufacturing processes, and application in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) with a desire to learn new skills and technology.
• Experience with concept and practices of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
• Minimum of 5+ years Engineering in a product development or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated skill with CAD programs, SolidWorks preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Familiarization with Product Data Management Systems (PDM). Solidworks PDM and Solidworks Manage a plus.
• Ability to demonstrate Critical Thinking and techniques to solve real-world design and manufacturing issues through use and application of engineering principles like Root Cause Analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and quality metrics.
• Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows-based software.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize and work in accordance with our Permission to Play Values.
• Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic with attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
• Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the normal work day.
• Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
