Position Details


Summary of Duties:


The Talent Acquisition Specialist leads and manages the full talent lifecycle for highly qualified Advancement professionals to support philanthropic efforts at Washington State University (WSU).


In this role, you will utilize industry best practices to source and recruit new talent, develop and maintain talent pipelines and relationships, screen and interview candidates, and work closely with hiring managers across Advancement to support recruitment and hiring needs. You will also utilize the Workday and OPDRS systems to support candidate flow and be responsible for orientation to WSU Advancement and may support certain onboarding functions.


The Talent Acquisition specialist serves all of WSU Advancement — Constituent Development Units, WSU Foundation, and WSU Alumni Association—and follows fundamental Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEAIB) principles in hiring and recruitment.


This position may be eligible for a remote/hybrid schedule.

Annual Salary


This position is based in the WSU Zone 1 / Salary Grade 4, which has a minimum annual salary of $48,742.80 and maximum annual salary of $73,100.


In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. For additional information, please review WSU’s Administrative Professional Compensation.

Position Type: This is a permanent position.


Required Qualifications


  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while at the same time being a supportive team player.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable employment laws, talent acquisition/management best practices, and/or human resources principles.
  • Significant full lifecycle recruitment experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential matters.
  • Experience developing and presenting trainings both in-person and virtually.
  • Experience managing and improving complex administrative processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders with conflicting needs and timelines.
  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems, such as Workday or PeopleAdmin.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience developing reports on recruitment metrics, analyzing the findings and using that analysis to improve future operations.
  • Demonstrated highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience recruiting for an Advancement department or university foundation.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Clifton Strengths or other similar performance coaching programs.
  • Experience with executive searches.
  • Experience working with LinkedIn Recruiter and LinkedIn job slots.
  • Experience recruiting in higher education.
  • Experience with proactive recruitment, especially utilizing social media.
