ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Career Services, reporting to the Division of Student Success, is the university's centralized career planning and employment assistance service for students and graduates. Career Services programs are designed to help students and graduates assess, explore, develop, and implement their career goals, gain employability skills and career-related experiences, prepare for a successful transition into graduate/professional school or the labor market, and connect with employers to obtain part-time jobs, internships, cooperative education, and professional employment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Employment/ JLD Coordinator will support student employment on-campus and through Federal Work Study (FWS), locate and develop off-campus job opportunities for the students of the University of South Florida. This position serves as a part of the Industry Connection team, focusing on developing and maintaining relationships with on and off campus employers to cultivate job opportunities and provide high-quality back office and administrative support for the team. This includes communicating prompt and accurate information; running data and reports; administering the Job Location and Development (JLD) Program; planning recruitment events; conducting site visits to employers and local Chambers of Commerce and providing industry information to the career coaching team to support hiring practices and trends in the industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates programs and workshops to meet with students and assist students in securing on and off-campus part-time employment following guidelines of FWS and potential visa restrictions. Facilitates orientation and training workshops for student employees to highlight the professionalism and career readiness skills acquired.
Coordinates the development and management of relationships with JLD Program-eligible employers providing administrative support and communications to employer questions and requests. Assists in the coordination of and attends employer site visits and local Chamber of Commerce meetings. Assists eligible employers with requesting, establishing, and managing their Handshake system account.
Coordinates the development of JLD-qualified employment postings in the Tampa metro area to increase the number and types of opportunities available to USF students. Assists off campus employers using the Handshake system when posting or updating employment requisitions. Reviews postings to ensure the accuracy of the information and appropriate classification of positions, and compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and guidelines.
Plans and hosts targeted recruitment and National Student Employment Week (NSEW) events, with the assistance of an office event planner and marketing professional, to promote JLD-related part-time, seasonal, and summer employment opportunities for USF students. This may include information tables, virtual information sessions, part-time job fairs, and similar recruiting programs. Coordinates university-wide recognition activities for NSEW.
Collects data on the number of jobs posted, students hired, and potential wages earned in JLD-eligible positions for the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP). Respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders regarding employer data for the FISAP report. Pulls and creates reports for the Career Services team on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis as needed or as requested in support of activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration. Work experience may not be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
