Job Description
The Tippie College of Business is seeking a Communication Curriculum Development Coordinator who will be primarily responsible for supporting undergraduate students in the Department of Accounting to develop professional-level skills in writing, presentations, and visual communication. The Coordinator will lead day-to-day operations of the program, work with Department faculty to optimize resources, and assist the Director of the Frank Business Communication Center in delivering instruction and resources to undergraduate students in other Tippie majors.


This position is also responsible for building and maintaining collaborative relationships with faculty and staff. The Coordinator must support new approaches and continuous improvements to drive results, lead a culture of optimism, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving. This position is 60% Accounting and 20% Frank Center, with 60% (or 3 days per week) performed remotely and 20% (or 1 day per week) performed on campus.


Please Note: This role will be in effect for the Academic year (9 months)

Key Areas Of Responsibilities And Specific Job Tasks


Develop Instructional Materials


  • Utilize and help prepare tutorials, trainings, and reference materials for student use in the Accounting Writing and Communications Program and other College communication initiatives as needed.
  • Gather from Departmental assessments and student coursework; make data-supported recommendations to Director of the Frank Business Communication Center.


Instruct, Train, Consult, Support


  • Advise Frank Center Director on staffing and curriculum needs.
  • Attend departmental meetings and represent the AWCP internally and externally.
  • Provide support to optimize or adjust assignments or resources in individual Accounting classes.
  • Deliver tutorials, trainings and workshops for student communication skill development.
  • Provide support for accounting students by holding weekly program office hours and in-class tutorials or workshop sessions as needed.
  • Score and provide feedback to students for 2-3 Accounting courses/semester and the Departmental communication assessments.
  • Collaborate with Frank Center Director to develop programming resources for Tippie’s departmental communication initiatives.


Facilities/Technology Management


  • Maintain and develop digital resources including online scheduling system.
  • Coordinate room reservation and provide the training and tools needed for a staff of part-time communication consultants to be effective.


Operational Management (Financial and Administrative)


  • Provide operational support for the Accounting Writing and Communications Program and other communication initiatives in the Tippie College of Business.


Supervision


  • Hiring, training, and mentoring part-time graders and communication consultants, and arranging logistics for program resources

Position Qualifications


Education Requirement


  • Master’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Qualifications


  • Experience with assessment of student work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 1-3 years’ experience tutoring and/or teaching undergraduate students.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, specifically regarding attention to detail and proven sense of urgency when responding to faculty or students’ interaction.
  • Experience with teaching and/or assessing technical writing.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and supporting inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Demonstrated constructive and collaborative relationship-building skills with a variety of individuals and groups including peers, leadership, and internal/external constituents.
  • Experience hiring, supervising, and training staff.


Desired Qualifications


  • Experience with department or program curriculum development.
