Job Description

Job Summary

This position's primary responsibility is to provide office support to Access and Disability Services in ensuring that individuals with disabilities have an equal opportunity to fully participate in the educational process and university experience. Primary responsibilities include:

Position Description



  • Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director, coordinate readers/scribes as needed. Communicates with students and professors to facilitate administration of accommodations.
  • Establish and maintain electronic records/file system, and respond to inquiries from students, faculty and staff. Assist with the maintenance of files and records pertinent to the program,
  • Coordinate with other departments to implement accommodations for students including, but not limited to: adaptive computerized technology such as Kurzweil for learning disabilities, Zoom Text to magnify text for the visual impaired, Dragon for transposing speech to text, and the CCTV's for magnification.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director, advise students, faculty, and departments on appropriate and recommended reasonable academic
  • Assist the Senior Associate Director, Student Support Services with administrative and logistical duties and provides students with information on disability services and university policies and procedures.
  • Assign service providers to designated classes, notifies instructors, coordinates and monitors supportive resource services.
  • Support programming needs by managing and handling all logistical details;
accommodations.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Compose office correspondence such as requests for documentation and responds to requests for information; devises, evaluates and revises forms/correspondence for internal and external use using a variety of software packages;
  • Review documents, records, or applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with rules; determines and explains action necessary to achieve compliance or approval;
  • Resolve problems and respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and resources and escalates as appropriate; answers telephone;

In addition to the above this position also supports and works closely with the Office of Student Affairs team on general administrative functions including supporting programming needs across the office Schedules appointments, answers phones and performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

A minimum of three years of related experience required. Overtime may be required during peak time periods.
Any candidate wishing to be considered must supply a cover letter in addition to their resume and indicate meeting the basic qualifications.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Bachelors degree preferred. Familiarity with specialized adaptive technology software such as CCTV, Dragon, Kurzweil, and JAWS preferred. Requires excellent communication and organization skills; proofing and editing skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat are essential; flexibility and ability to work with shifting deadlines. Must be self-motivated, service oriented, exacting with detail and able to work independently. This position requires a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy as well as the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

Working Conditions
