Arthur Grand rand Technologies is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Sr Proj Opns Spec - Operations Director for one of our clients.
Position: Sr Proj Opns Spec - Operations Director
Location: Vandenberg AFB, CA (Day 1 Onsite)
Duration: Long Term Contract
Job Summary:
As the Operations Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operational activities associated with the United States' space launch infrastructure. You will lead a team of professionals and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the safe, efficient, and successful execution of space launch operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
- Collaborate with government agencies, private aerospace companies, and international partners to ensure compliance with regulations, launch requirements, and range capabilities.
- Manage and allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and infrastructure, to support operational needs.
- Oversee the scheduling, coordination, and execution of space launch activities, including launches, range safety operations, and tracking and telemetry services.
- Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the smooth and efficient operation.
2. Range Safety and Mission Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with range safety regulations and procedures to mitigate risks and protect personnel, assets, and the environment.
- Lead incident response and investigation efforts, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety and mission assurance by establishing rigorous protocols and standards for all launch operations.
- Work closely with mission assurance teams to develop and enforce quality control measures, ensuring the reliability and success of launch operations.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Engage with range users, including commercial launch providers and government organizations, to understand their requirements and facilitate their operations.
- Represent the range in meetings, conferences, and working groups to advocate for its interests and promote collaboration within the space industry.
- Foster strong relationships with government agencies, aerospace companies, and international partners to coordinate and support space launch activities.
- Maintain open lines of communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns.
4. Leadership and Team Management:
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging innovation, professional development, and employee engagement.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance, emphasizing the importance of adherence to regulations and best practices.
- Set performance objectives, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback to ensure the team's effectiveness and individual growth.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a diverse team of professionals, promoting a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of launch range operations, including range safety, tracking, and telemetry systems.
- Familiarity with government regulations and procedures governing space launch activities.
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, make critical decisions, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of effectively managing teams and driving operational excellence.
- Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in space launch operations, range management, or a related field.
