Job Description
Overview
POSITION DESCRIPTION: is not intended to cover every work assignment a position may have. Rather, they cover the broad responsibilities of the position.
The (Senior) Director of Operations (the Director) oversees operations of Touro University California (TUC). In order to ensure the University’s sound operations, the Director is responsible to the TUC CEO for all operational matters, and to establish University-wide administrative objectives, policies, programs, and practices. To support and enhance the growth of TUC, the Director will have a commitment to the mission of TUC and to private higher education. The Director must possess a high-energy, service-oriented philosophy. This person must be an agile, team-oriented professional with a track record of inspiring leadership and a strong commitment to collaboration. Reporting to the TUC CEO, the Director will be an active participant in helping to create and implement the organization’s overall strategy. This position is responsible for developing and managing University operations including Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Dining and Catering Services, and Security. The Director also takes a leadership role for routine and special events on campus.
Responsibilities
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: are those work assignments which are predominant, regular and recurring.
  • Develop and manage direct staff, to include managers/directors in Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Dining & Catering Services, and Security
  • Participate in committee and working groups as assigned or as required by University policies
  • Function as a proactive steward of the University's resources and services, balancing constituent needs while protecting and enhancing them and ensuring compliance and safety
  • Partner with the TUC CEO, CAO, Vice Provost, and Senior Management within TUC & larger Touro University System (TUS) to identify opportunities to advance TUC, and TUS
  • Create climate of trust increasing the potential for employees to feel welcomed, valued, and motivated.
  • Execute innovative operational strategies that foster an inclusive and diverse workplace culture, fostering a culture of respect and opportunity.
  • Recommend improvements to the systems in place and managing the systems going forward
  • Develop initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative processes, and to support and promote the strategic goals and initiatives of the University.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide students, faculty, and staff with well-run infrastructure and services to effectively carry out the teaching, research, outreach and the public service mission of the University
  • Engage other members of the management team to facilitate cross-department collaboration that ensures that all Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Dining & Catering Services, and Security solutions positively support TUC’s evolving strategy, operational delivery, and data collection needs.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external parties for event requests that will take place on the TUC campus. Assist other leaders in coordination of routine and special events including annual gala.
  • Review all formal procedures, processes, and administration for Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Dining & Catering Services, and Security
  • Assist in budget development and ensure responsible budget management by Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Dining & Catering Services, and Security departments
  • Provide the highest quality support services to the University through effective business partnering;
  • Collaborate with the TUC community to advance the goals and objectives of the TUC Strategic Plan
  • Implement informed decision making by collecting, analyzing and reporting on data, and leveraging those data to improve the performance of the University
  • Implement innovative solutions and best practices to support the changing needs and environment of the University
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable): should reflect who the employee is supervising and what the expectations are.
  • Supervises managers/directors in Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Dining & Catering Services, and Security
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION(S): is the Education, Training and/or related experience needed by the person to perform the job.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work within a diverse, multicultural environment
  • Skill in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending operational policies and procedures
  • At least 3 years in a management position
  • An open and consultative leader, who can work diplomatically and effectively in relationships with faculty, staff, students, and with the external community
  • Appropriate professional experience with either a Master’s degree in business, finance, economics or related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with commiserate experience

Maximum Salary
USD $150,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $110,000.00/Yr.
