The Sr. Director of Operations will be responsible for a portfolio of hospitals across the Southern California market. This individual will be able to build and maintain sound working relationships with all departments throughout the organization.
Other responsibilities include P&L oversight, the development of strategic growth opportunities, and implementing innovative tactics to make us an industry leader. This position will work closely with the CEO to develop competitive strategies in alignment with our vision and values and will be a key member of the Papaya Veterinary Care Leadership team. The successful candidate will be able to show a good balance of EQ and analytical skills with the ability to develop others in both of those areas.
Scope
- Manage financial and revenue growth, operations, and labor management.
- Review, analyze, and address gaps in operations or barriers to care.
- Partner closely with direct reports to ensure operational compliance and excellence with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Report weekly, monthly, and quarterly clinic performance KPIs.
- Mentor and train managers & teams to reach various business goals and KPIs.
- Build, develop, and support a collaborative team at each hospital.
- Manage multi-site operations; provide operational support for a growing veterinary portfolio in the Southern California region.
- Be a collaborative partner across the organization in creating the company road map while keeping the company vision and values at the forefront.
- Ability to solve complex problems and provide unique solutions using quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Autonomy to build something from the ground up.
Requirements
- Prior consulting experience with the top 3 consulting firms a huge plus. This is the level of analytical skills the position requires.
- Experience in the veterinary or medical field with a strong understanding of clinic operations.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to work with, and manage diverse teams by being highly empathetic, intuitive, self-motivated, and driven.
- 6+ years in a management role, with multi-unit operations.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to effectively balance priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, ever-changing, and highly entrepreneurial environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills with the ability to mathematically model strategic plans.
- A proven record of meeting and exceeding financial targets.
- Available for heavy local travel.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $240,000/year - Range is dependent on level of experience.
