The Business Performance & Strategy team within US Strategic Insights & Prioritization acts as internal strategy consultants providing thought leadership and impactful insights to support major Menu, Marketing and other strategic growth initiatives, such as Digital and Delivery. We use a combination of consumer data, competitor data, and internal data (among others) to track, manage and improve performance of new and existing initiatives across the lifecycle of an initiative - from concept development, testing, business case modeling, to the ongoing maximization of initiatives across our large network of over 14,000 US restaurants. About the Opportunity: In this role, you will have an outstanding opportunity to participate in cross-functional teams accountable for developing the national marketing calendar and strategic growth initiatives. You will be responsible for compiling and assembling internal McDonald’s data and external industry data into impactful and insightful forecasts, profitability trends, opportunities, and risks. This role helps shape future marketing programs, analyze the potential viability of initiatives under test, forecast national financial impact of these initiatives, and provide recommendations based on the business screens established for the program. Other projects include providing financial analyses in support of the U.S. strategic growth plan and evaluating initiative performance across its lifecycle to help identify performance maximization opportunities. This position is expected to become a subject matter authority in a given category and to maintain relationships with functional subject areas outside of Finance, including Marketing, Menu Strategy, Supply Chain, Operations, and Franchisee Leadership. Scenario planning, financial modeling/business analytics, communication skills, and effective cross-functional teamwork will allow you to excel in this role. This role reports to the Initiative Management Manager.
- Ability to operate independently and effectively in a team-based environment Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Ability to influence others through storytelling
- Experience in basic programming or data visualization software (e.g., R, SQL, Tableau)
- Ability to structure and quickly synthesize large volumes of data to develop practical insights
- High level of intellectual curiosity
- Assessment of performance of both new and existing initiatives
- Compilation and organization of internal McDonald’s point of sale data into relevant insights
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Effectively framing results of analysis to various partners, including senior leadership and franchisees Qualifications Required Competencies:
- Identification and prioritization of opportunities to increase performance
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities
- Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
- 2+ years Consulting, Business Insights/Research, Strategy or analytical and data intensive environment
- Evaluation of initiatives and development of business cases, including forecasting initiative sales, guest count, unit movement and cash flow impact
