We are seeking a results-driven Director of Operations to lead our Operations Support department. This position is part of the Senior Leadership team and participates in projects that support the organization's strategic priorities.


As a member of the Senior Leadership Committee, the Director of Operations will work with other senior leaders, including working across departments, to drive operational effectiveness and help execute and achieve our overall organizational objectives. Role Overview


As the Director of Operations, you will build and manage a solid and diverse operations support team to meet organizational objectives and maximize productivity, efficiency, quality, member service/satisfaction, team morale, retention, controls on operating risk, and financial goals. May function as the primary liaison with operation area vendors and ensure a good working relationship with all departments. Maintains member service standards, monitors them, and responds to trends accordingly. Seeks and implements industry best practices across operations, remains knowledgeable in industry trends and developments, recognize, and manage cross-team dependencies, and effectively communicate to inform, persuade, influence, and direct others.


Essential Functions


  • Implements strategy and project steps with consideration to constraints of budget, schedule and overall member impact.
  • Manages the Overdraft Privilege (ODP) program to ensure compliance with regulations and our policies.
  • Manages the Check 21 scanning and transmission process.
  • Manages and/or participates in department and organizational projects, which includes formulating project plans; managing project resources (internal and external), tracking task assignments, and facilitating project meetings.
  • Manages and develops the Operations Support Staff. Provides direction, organizational information and feedback.
  • Reports status of projects on a regular basis.
  • Ensures proper tracking and reclassification of minor and CUTMA accounts once minor reaches legal age.
  • Ensures that adjustments are posted to member accounts and makes certain the general ledger accounts are cleared timely to ensure no stale dated items.
  • Ensures the timely and proper processing of all negative deposit accounts including negative accounts due to ODP. Responsible for the proper closing of all accounts approved for charge-off.
  • Ensures compliance with IRS rules regarding IRA distributions and reporting.
  • Manages the processing of loan payments, deposits, and member research/complaints.
  • Sets department and staff goals and objectives. Monitors progress on a consistent basis.
  • Ensures accurate and timely tax reporting for the 1099INT, 1099R, 1099ESA, 1099Q and 5498.
  • Ensures projects are on task and updates necessary parties on status.
  • Ensures compliance with NACHA rules regarding ACH transactions.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are in compliance as they pertain to ACH, ODP, and IRA's.
  • Oversees the development and testing of the process flow for both NMAO and Meridian Link systems.
  • Facilitates post-project meetings to understand meaningful learning and implements learning in upcoming projects.
  • Ensures Credit Union compliance with all state and federal regulations pertaining to the department and incorporates these compliance requirements into departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complies with BSA and OFAC regulations within area of responsibility.
  • Determines, recommends, and coordinates department staff training.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop strong working relationships with senior management, peers and staff level employees.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience.
  • Three to five years' experience with a financial institution.
  • Must possess a superior level of member service, be a positive role model for staff, and demonstrate a high level of commitment to the organization.
  • College degree in business or related field preferred.
