Job Responsibilities
Summary:
The Senior Director, IT Enterprise Architecture ensures technology architecture capabilities, solutions, and processes are enabling our business strategy. This role acts as both a champion of change and the facilitator of empowerment to help guide business and technology decision making. The Enterprise Architecture and Service Transition teams both report to the Senior Director.
Through the implementation of a full Application Lifecycle Management framework, the Senior Director is responsible for all enterprise architecture, change management, service transition, service readiness, and application KPI’s within the Syneos technology environment. The Senior Director works with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, information, and technology assets. The Senior Director takes his/her knowledge and ensures that the business and IT are in alignment and that solutions meet business needs while recommending and driving standards focused on measured results. The Senior Director links the business mission, strategy, and processes of an organization to its IT strategy, and documents this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.
The Senior Director operates within a business division, but acts on behalf of the overall enterprise to drive common approaches and expose information, technology assets, and processes across the enterprise. The goal is to deliver an architecture that supports the most efficient, adaptable, and secure environment meeting our company's business needs while leveraging existing assets and maximizing investments.
Essential Functions:
1. Create and manage a consistent vision for how Syneos Health adopts, consumes, and deprecates technology capabilities.
2. Evangelize technical capabilities that will directly impact our ability to improve solution velocity and create more value for Syneos Health.
3. Develop and lead the technology Application Lifecycle Framework, enhancing overall change management processes for all technology solutions.
4. Understand and help rationalize the application portfolio to ensure that projects and assets do not duplicate functionality or diverge from strategies.
5. Work closely with technology and business colleagues to pilot new technology solutions.
6. Partner with leaders to align technology strategy and planning with a division’s business goals.
7. Assist in the evaluation of appropriate systems tools and technologies. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and determines how they can be applied to enhance operational efficiencies.
8. Work with solutions architect and development leads to ensure that solution architectures are aligned to the overall strategy.
9. Participate, as part of the Enterprise IT Solutions senior management team, in both short and long-term strategic planning. Responsible for supporting the development of information technology strategic plans and budgets.
10. Educate leaders on processes and tools for strategic planning.
11. Responsible for the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for all enterprise architecture activities and deliverables.
12. Maximize business intelligence required to manage the business at both macro & micro levels and to support Business Unit / regional-specific needs.
13. Automate routine business transactions and eliminates data administration redundancies through systems integration.
14. Works with all Business Unit and governance committees as required insuring that key business processes are mapped and understood so data can be utilized in a manner that will provide clear information for Business Unit leaders and managers.
15. Responsible for managing all CMDB tools and processes.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of financial modeling as it pertains to IT investment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

- Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand.
- Knowledge of technology governance and operations.
- Knowledge of EA principles and frameworks.

- Knowledge of the business division for which the architecture is being developed.

- Interpersonal and leadership skills - servant leadership, collaboration, facilitation, negotiation skills, and influential impact.
- Project and program management planning and organizational skills.
- Deep experience with proven success in applications, information, infrastructure, or integrated solutions.
