Digital Products Engineering is responsible for Tesla’s customer facing website www.tesla.com which serves customers in over 60 countries, helping users understand and purchase our groundbreaking products, and keep track of their orders through delivery.
Tesla’s Digital Product Engineering team is seeking an exceptional software engineer, with experience in backend development, who will be responsible for building information systems to support Tesla's rapid growth while providing a seamless and intuitive customer experience. Candidate will be part of core services team at tesla, which owns backend orchestration of entire vehicle journey from order, purchase, delivery and ownership on tesla mobile app.
The ideal candidate is flexible, motivated and a self-starter with a strong desire to improve efficiency, scalability and make an impact with contributions to a cross-functional team. What You’ll Do

• Write unit tests, integration tests, and work with QA to coordinate timely regression for new features.
• Write clean, maintainable, performant, and well-tested code to implement new features and fix bugs.
• Learn new technologies, practices and business concepts to solve new problems as Tesla grows.
• Be flexible and quick to respond to changing business priorities and requirements.
• Own feature development and projects through design, development, testing, release and production.
• Work with technologies such as Go, C#, .Net core, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Mongodb, Redis, GraphQL, Php, Python, Javascript, React, Angular, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to plan and prioritize new feature development.
• Investigate and understand existing system technical functionality and propose technical improvements.
• Understand and improve the scalability, maintainability, availability, and visibility of applications.
• Monitor live system metrics, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Communicate changes in project estimates, dependencies, and blockers with affected stakeholders quickly.
• Document newly implemented technologies and application functionality.
• Design, develop and support applications and systems under the team’s scope, including vehicle order processing, inventory vehicle purchasing, vehicle delivery experience, Tesla account login, software upgrades, and features accessible through mobile app, etc.

What You’ll Bring

• Good communication skills with positive attitude.
• Knowledge in the best code practices including design patterns across different languages/frameworks
• Experience with message queue architecture.
• Experience with microservices, or service oriented architecture.
• Expert knowledge of REST APIs.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Good unit testing and integration testing practices.
• Experience with databases (either SQL or NoSQL)

Good to have

Experience writing code in C#, Go, Java, Python, Javascript, or Php

Working with open source technologies such as Kafka, Debezium, Elasticsearch, etc

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Experience with Mysql, PostgreSQL

Knowledge of GraphQL, GRPC, React or any other Javascript frameworks

Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM Software Development Process

Expected Compensation
$104,000 - $348,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
