Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.
Westat’s Education Studies practice area has an immediate opening for a Senior Associate who can provide technical assistance to state and local education agencies around complex special education data topics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop resources to help teams understand and address complex data quality concerns at the state and local level.
- Contribute to Westat’s business development efforts, including proposal writing focused on study design, research methods, survey operations, measurement, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and technical reporting.
- Provide technical assistance to state and local agencies regarding the collection, analysis, reporting, and use of special education data.
- Collaborate with Westat statisticians, programmers, and developers on project tasks related to data quality topics such as sampling, non-response bias analyses, and response rates.
- Work with a team to plan, implement, and deliver services to states and districts.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Master's in Education, Public Policy or social science related field with 6 or more years of relevant experience with technical assistance related to research or evaluation focused on special education, education programs, or data; or a PhD in Education, Public Policy or social science related field and 2‐4 years of relevant post‐doctoral experience with technical assistance related to research or evaluation focused on special education, education programs, or data.
- Experience analyzing data required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in state or local education agencies.
- Experience providing technical assistance on significant disproportionality and equity data, survey data procedures, and the collection and use of parent involvement data.
