Hanover Research - Research Associate, K-12 Education


Arlington, VA


Remote Opportunity


As a Research Associate, you will support research projects that include literature reviews, policy briefs, peer profiling/case studies, and research briefs. The RA works under the guidance of Research Directors and other senior research staff to execute individual projects for K-12 clients. In addition, the RA will have the opportunity to contribute to Hanover’s proprietary online library of research on key topics in education.


Hanover’s K12 Practice Area works with over 300 school districts, state and regional education agencies, and independent schools across the country. The K12 Research team synthesizes academic and practitioner-focused research to drive our clients’ most consequential decisions. Hanover’s K12 Practice Area helps K-12 leaders educate and communicate with stakeholders, make research-informed decisions, and implement best practices.


  • Writing reports and creating other types of deliverables (e.g., presentations, infographics) to communicate findings to different types of audiences (e.g., district and school administrators and instructional staff, parents, students, community members)
  • Conducting secondary research to address research questions related to key components of K-12 education (e.g., strategic planning, curriculum, instruction, school culture/climate, operations, community engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, etc.)
  • Effectively managing the phases of the project life cycle (i.e., research, analysis and synthesis, and deliverable creation) to ensure we meet deadlines and deliver research to clients in a timely manner
  • Analyzing and synthesizing secondary source material (e.g., best practice research, literature reviews, empirical studies, district/school documentation) in order to
  • Make actionable recommendations to decision-makers
  • Draw key insights from the literature

Preferred


  • Experience in designing compelling visuals to communicate results (e.g., charts and graphs, infographics)
  • Writing for a business/non-academic audience
  • Experience conducting K-12 research in a professional or academic setting
  • Familiarity with federal and state education databases


Education Requirement


A Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Economics, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, or a related discipline is preferred, though candidates with relevant experience and who hold other degrees will be considered.

Compensation


Hanover Research strives to create compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, equitable and fair. The compensation range for this role at the company is $45,833 - $64,167. Please note that the base salary offered is contingent on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  Our base pay range is determined by the role and the market.
