Description

The Department of Supply Chain Management in the W. P. Carey School of Business at ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for an Associate Professor tenure-track position in supply chain management (SCM) focused in Transportation/Logistics and Technology Management starting Fall 2024.

Essential Functions: The candidate must conduct high-quality research and publish in top-tier SCM journals; effectively teach SCM courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level; serve as a research mentor to doctoral students; and interact effectively with colleagues to support and enhance our unique department culture. The candidate's tenure home will be in the Department of Supply Chain Management at ASU’s Tempe Campus; however, the teaching activities will primarily be at ASU’s West Campus.

The Department of Supply Chain Management is regularly ranked among the top 5 in the United States at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and each year graduates approximately 400 students with a BS-SCM, 95 with a BA-Global Logistics, 45 Full-Time MBAs with an SCM concentration, numerous Working Professional MBAs (50 with a SCM concentration), 58 with a MS-Global Logistics and 230 with a MS-Business Analytics, and 2 to 4 PhD students. The ASU SCM faculty includes over 30 tenured, tenure-track, and clinical professors – among the largest in the United States. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Have research interests in Transportation/Logistics and Technology Management or closely related fields and the capability to effectively teach courses in these business areas.
  • Possess an earned doctorate in supply chain management, business administration, or closely related field
  • Demonstrate the potential to actively publish in top-tier SCM journals; and show evidence of teaching excellence

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Machine Learning and Applied Statistical Methods
  • Demonstrates an ability to publish research in operations management and other relevant areas in top-tier SCM journals.
  • Has conducted research evidencing data-driven methods used in SCM, with some analytical methods a plus.
  • Has demonstrated leadership in developing relationships with industry.
  • Can strengthen and complement the capabilities of the department in terms of advanced research methods (e.g., econometrics, analytics, etc.)
  • Has an interest in working on real problems in collaboration with industry or public sector organizations and applying for external grant funding.
  • Demonstrates teaching excellence in SCM.
