Overview
Join AIR as a Special Education Evaluation Researcher with our Learning Supports program area, where we provide research and technical assistance to federal, state, and local clients, primarily focusing on the supports children need to be ready to learn in the K-12 education system. Our Learning Supports program area uses a proactive and preventative framework to support these content areas:
  • English learners
  • Early childhood
  • Special education
  • Multi-tiered system of support

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of ou r U.S. office locations.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities for the position include:
  • Conduct data collection through both virtual and in-person methods
  • Contribute to the design of program evaluations such that they adhere to scientific principles and practices
  • Handle multiple tasks independently and simultaneously
  • Develop recruitment and information materials such as fliers, consent forms, and other advertising related to evaluations
  • Contribute to capacity building for evaluation within AIR’s staff
  • Contribute to team efforts to develop new business opportunities, including strategic planning and writing sections of proposals
  • Interact with state, local, and site-based staff; potential clients; and partner organizations
  • Report on evaluation findings using print and graphic tools
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Experience conducting evaluations for entities related to special education and/or multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
  • PhD in a social science, education, or other related field or Master's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of research experience
  • Prior experience in non-profit, philanthropic, university, or mission-driven environment
Skills
  • Comfortable working in a dispersed work environment
  • Strong business development acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Passionate about topics related to learning supports for special youth populations
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to accuracy when writing
Disclosures
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $85,000 - $115,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
