Strategy & Innovation
- Partner with cross functional, corporate resources to achieve global production efficiencies across divisions and groups.
- Perform competitive research; continuously evaluate marketplace to identify and review applicability of key trends in manufacturing, fabrications and construction; identify significant innovations and share with partners in Merchandising and Design on regular basis; oversee maintenance of archive of materials, hardware, etc. for production.
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of production costing including the Analysis of production costs, lead negotiations, sourcing and consolidating vendors.
- Partner with Merchandising, Design and Sales to develop product, ensure correct execution of products and attain agreed-upon margin goals, in context of larger assortment and cost structure; set and articulate expectations and ensure timely delivery according to development calendar.
- Perform negotiations on pricing to ensure profitability; review and approve final buys; ensure tracking of production from first samples to final deliveries; resolve non-compliance/claims chargebacks with vendors; coordinate customs classification coordination with Imports.
- Manage creation of approved vendor matrix, with costing and production capacity portfolio; approve and review production standards.
- Perform capacity planning and performance management by sourcing office, region, country and vendor; execute accurate costing models; partner with Sales and Planning to project production needs
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes and increase efficiency across all production operations.
Customers & Relationships
- Relationship management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure that production operations are supported and optimized.
- Partner with customers, Sales, Merchandising and Operations, as well as vendors and factories to ensure adequate flow of goods relative to orders and anticipated demand criteria.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Travel to factories and international trade shows, where appropriate.
Leadership & Teams
- Decision making: must be able to make quick and effective decisions, often under pressure. They must be able to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize production processesAttract, develop and retain talent.
- Team building: must be able to build and lead high-performing teams. This involves, providing mentorship, coaching, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Problem solving: must possess strong problem-solving skills to identify and address operational challenges. This involves developing and implementing solutions to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP a plus
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail oriented and meticulous.
- Walmart experience a Plus
- Creativity, technical capability and sensibility for merchandising/design.
- 5 - 8 years experience in apparel production and sourcing; significant relevant experience in category.
