The Senior Litigation Counsel will report to the Chief Litigation Counsel, will be based in our Piscataway, NJ office and will abide by our hybrid work schedule. The primary responsibility will be management and coordination of the Company’s products liability litigation and strategy as well as assisting with the defense of marketing and false advertising litigation and consumer class actions.

Main Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the Company’s relationships with its retained experts and third party vendors for Litigation matters.
• Counseling the business and assisting with risk assessments relating to marketing and advertising campaigns.
• Point of contact for various insurers involved in the Company’s products liability litigation.
• Participating in the preparation or depositions of corporate representatives and current/former Company employees.
• Coordinating the Company’s response, along with Consumer Affairs, to significant consumer product complaints.
• Conducting internal fact investigations and early evaluation and assessments relating to case-specific legal and factual issues, including supervising work undertaken by private investigative agencies.
• Liaising with opposing counsel on litigation matters, including settlement negotiations.
• Attending court conferences, hearings, and trials, assisting the Company’s outside counsel where appropriate, and providing detailed daily updates and assessments of all court proceedings. Reviewing and editing pleadings, including motions, statements, memoranda, legal briefs, and affidavits.
• Assisting with the preparation of responses to interrogatories, documents requests, and requests for admission.
• Assisting with Litigation Hold and Document Management Program oversight.
• Coordinating communications between the trial teams and the Company’s in-house legal organization and Company senior management.
• Conducting legal research.
• Defending the Company in arbitrations, mediations and government agency hearings.
• Collecting and reviewing documents as part of the Company’s litigation risk assessment.
• Assisting with the preparation of quarterly and year-end Auditor reports, SEC filings and updates to the Company’s Board of Directors

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate and JD degrees.
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to build an effective leadership style, manage stress and conflict, lead innovation and change, and lead remote teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience conducting internal investigations.
• Experience with marketing and false advertising litigation, general commercial litigation, and/or class action litigation.
• Experience with asbestos and/or talcum powder litigation.

Salary Range $222,000 - $248,000

Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
