Job Overview:

This position will provide legal support for the Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s credit card and loyalty programs, focusing on regulatory compliance and marketing review.

This position is a fully remote role with a preference for candidates able to work during Eastern or Central time zone business hours.

Essential Functions:

• Manage credit-related litigation with in-house litigators or outside counsel
• Counsel clients with regard to compliance with federal and state laws regarding use of telephone calls and text messaging in servicing and marketing, including federal and state Telephone Consumer Protection Act laws
• Perform other legal related work as assigned
• Review marketing materials related to credit programs and loyalty programs for Marketing and Digital teams
• Counsel clients with regard to consumer credit regulations including, but not limited to Truth-in-Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity and Fair Credit Reporting Act
• Follow developments in consumer credit law and advise clients regarding the same
• Counsel Marketing and Digital clients with respect to the acquisition, servicing and marketing of credit customers and loyalty customers

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically.
• Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying established standards; knowledge base acquired from several years of experience providing advice for consumer credit programs.
• Licensed attorney with 6+ years of demonstrated experience counseling clients with regard to consumer credit card programs including experience providing advice regarding Truth-in-Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs is required.
• Juris Doctorate (JD)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong ability to analyze legal and factual issues, provide practical and focused advise based on balancing business needs and risk, build excellent relationships with business colleagues, and write concisely for external and internal audiences.
• Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and office equipment. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
