We are seeking a business and contract lawyer to join the WTW legal team. The candidate will provide general legal support and contracting support primarily to the Benefits Outsourcing, Benefits Accounts and Individual Marketplace businesses of WTW, but also may provide support across other areas of the company. The role is expected to work closely with other lawyers in the Benefits Delivery & Administration (BDA) legal group and report to the General Counsel for BDA.

The successful candidate should have a strong contracting background. The candidate must be comfortable working directly with cross-functional internal business teams and external parties to handle complicated commercial contracts, as well as a variety of other corporate and commercial matters. The candidate must be effective in providing necessary advice and counseling internal clients in a solutions-oriented, commercial-friendly way.

This is a hybrid role preferably based out of Philadelphia, PA, Arlington, VA or Nashville, TN. We may consider other locations. We are open to candidates returning to the workforce after a career break.

The Role

  • Provide advice across the Benefits, Delivery & Administration business segments on legal and regulatory issues related to corporate and commercial matters
  • Rapidly assess potential legal risks, benefits and consequences of decisions, present alternatives and propose solutions to achieve business objectives while skillfully managing legal and practical business considerations
  • Work with cross functional teams (sales, IT, strategy, marketing, HR, finance, etc.) to achieve business objectives
  • Negotiate numerous standard and complex corporate and commercial agreements ranging from nondisclosure agreements to a variety of complex consulting, professional services, insurance, software and other technology contracts while balancing appropriate legal and business risks

The Requirements

  • Ability to work and communicate with colleagues and business clients in a professional and positive manner, and operate as a team player
  • Employee benefits, insurance industry, privacy and/or regulatory background is a plus but not required
  • Excellent analytic, legal drafting and oral and written communication skills
  • Client service focus and the ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines and manage many projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively, including in work-from-home environments
  • Timely and effectively provide practical general corporate and commercial legal advice and services throughout the organization
  • JD from a recognized law school and admission to the relevant Bar
  • 5-10 years of relevant corporate and commercial experience in a fast-paced dynamic environment; prior in-house experience a plus but not required
