We’re looking for a talented and passionate employment lawyer to join our growing Legal team. You'll handle a diverse and challenging set of matters affecting the company’s 11,000+ employees across 13 countries.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years of employment law experience and is based in the Pacific or Mountain time zones of the United States. As part of Atlassian’s exciting TEAM Anywhere program, this is a remote position but office access is available in San Francisco, Mountain View, and Bellevue. Interviews and onboarding will be conducted virtually.

About This Role:

  • Dispute and Litigation Lead
  • Manage active US claims and litigation, which can include fact-finding, legal risk analyses, e-discovery, witness preparation, trial preparation, and collaboration with outside counsel
  • Serve as a central point of contact on the Legal team for all US pre-litigation disputes
  • Develop and improve processes, playbooks, and form documents to help scale the Legal-employment function at Atlassian
  • Advisor and Counselor
  • Workforce Project Support
  • Inform and train stakeholders on upcoming changes to relevant labor and employment laws within Atlassian’s global footprint
  • Support global workforce initiatives with cross-functional partners, including projects that relate to how and where we hire employees, and how we support the business on product and market-based decisions
  • Work on other Legal-related projects as needed, including those focused on workforce needs outside the US
  • Advise business leaders on legal, risk, and compliance considerations associated with their team and product decisions
  • Serve as trusted advisor and counselor to stakeholders (HR, Mobility, Compensation, Benefits, Tax, Privacy, DEI, and Operations) on a variety of issues related to hiring, company policies, workplace trainings, employee investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and post-separation matters

On your first day we’ll expect you to have:

  • Proven ability to navigate employment law issues, such as experience with hiring and talent acquisition matters, workplace investigations, harassment/discrimination/retaliation claims, labor organization and protected activity in the tech space, the intersection between employment law and AI/machine learning, performance-based or disciplinary terminations or redundancies, and post-separation matters
  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) with membership in good standing with a US State Bar
  • 4+ years of employment law experience in private practice with a highly regarded firm and/or a corporate legal department. Global employment law experience is a plus, but not required
  • Experience handling complex disputes in multiple jurisdictions, including experience with federal and state courts, the EEOC, the NLRB, and other administrative agencies
  • Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, and interpersonal skills that makes you a valued collaborator and colleague within our Global team!
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including the ability to craft persuasive and concise arguments

$148,100 - $249,900 a year
Compensation
At Atlassian, we tie our base pay ranges to role and level. In the United States, that means your base pay ranges will fall into one of three geographic pay zones depending on your location.
Our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $178,500 - $249,900
Zone B: $160,600 - $224,910
Zone C: $148,100 - $207,417
Within each range, base pay is determined based on your depth of experience. This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and/or equity.

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable and explainable compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.

In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $192,800 - $257,100
Zone B: $173,600 - $231,400
Zone C: $160,1000- $213,400

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
