What you will be doing


This position is a US based virtual role; ideally located in the East or Mid-West.


The Senior Director of Talent Development is responsible for partnering with business and HR leaders to create a talent strategy that enables the business to meet its goals. This role owns the development, implementation and continuous improvement of processes, programs and unique interventions that enable the talent strategy, this includes the performance and talent review processes, learning and development programs and targeted capability building efforts.
  • Partner with business and HR leaders to conduct a comprehensive situation assessment and collaboratively build a talent strategy that supports the business strategy
  • Regularly measure and implement improvements to elevate effectiveness
  • Capability Building:
  • Define success outcomes for all investments, process and programs
  • Implement plans and measure results
  • Develop a 3 year roadmap and detailed implementation and change plan to support
  • Advance AmerisourceBergen’s talent and succession planning processes
  • Define success measures and report on results
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve UX for HR, managers and associates
  • Evaluate segment skill gaps and create holistic development plans to address
  • Partner with Talent and Diversity & Inclusion Team to create a user experience vision and standards
  • Talent & Succession Planning:
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of AmerisourceBergen’s performance management process
  • Regularly scan the market for best practices and recommend changes to process, communications, language, tools, technology, etc. that improve performance management process outcomes
  • User Experience and Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive inflight efforts to move the organization to one process and timeline and increase leader accountability for action planning
  • Partner with business and HR leaders to define critical skills for priority talent segments within the company (eg. Manager, Manager of Managers)
  • Scan the market for best practices and recommend changes to improve process outcomes including but not limited to tools, process, technology, etc.

What your background should look like


  • Solid HR fundamentals – talent, performance, change, diversity and inclusion, rewards, employee relations, etc.
  • Able to embed D&I strategy in talent processes and programs
  • 5+ years of HR Business Partner experience (generalist or client facing) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Solid diversity and inclusion skillset
  • 10+ years of diversified corporate working experience
  • Able to proactively partner with HR and Business Leaders to develop strategy, solutions and seek feedback to inform continues improvement efforts
  • Able to objectively evaluate process and programs and identify opportunities to elevate effectiveness and user experience
  • Outstanding strategic and operational competencies
  • Ability to synthesize learnings and apply to AmerisourceBergen environment
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Strong orientation to seek new and different perspective internally and externally
  • Ability to develop pragmatic business minded HR strategy and bring to life with strong execution plans and approaches
  • High-level of intellectual curiosity
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset and skills
