Teledyne is seeking a Senior Director of Supply Chain and Materials Management to support multiple businesses within the Aerospace and Defense Electronic (A&DE) Market Segment.
The Senior Director of Supply Chain and Material Management oversees, monitors, and coordinates overall supply chain operations, including purchasing, selection of vendors, and material and inventory management. Develops and implements a strategy to ensure that critical processes run effectively and achieve organizational goals and performance KPIs at each Business Unit. This position will operate in a matrix reporting environment working with General Managers and Supply Chain Management team at each site, as well as the corporate supply chain management team.
Detailed Description:
- Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking to identify, prioritize, implement, and execute on procurement initiatives across the segment that can create both short-term and long-term value.
- Maintain excellent communication and working relationship with the Corporate team, and act as the representative and liaison between the corporate office and the supply chain team at A&DE segment
- Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate, influence and persuade across all levels of the organization as well as with suppliers and customers, exercising a high degree of consultative tact and diplomacy to accomplish objectives.
- Develops and manages reporting, benchmarking, and analytics to support the procurement function particularly around spend categories, contract compliance, Procurement performance, supplier scorecards
- Be able to quickly understand the current procurement challenges and modify strategy and programs to initiate or increase program effectiveness.
- Develop and implement change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage of required changes.
- Collaborate with R&D staff to draft, negotiate and finalize project-specific RFI/RFP templates
- Manage regular global spend analysis reporting, process and policy compliancy reporting, contract management reporting and interacts with leadership and business / function to make improvements
- Preparing procurement reports.
- Develop and manage metrics and key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the Procurement department and inventory management.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance to the organization with respect to global procurement strategies and tactics
- Spend Analysis - analyze Direct/Indirect Procurement spend. Develop, advocate, and implement sourcing and negotiation strategies for key spend areas to achieve short and long-term savings targets. Implement business strategies that directly affect company financial results and growth plans. Inform Management and Business Partners of market conditions and supplier developments and provide recommendations as required.
- Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
- Ability to drive procurement strategy and analytics that will significantly increase the leveraging of sourcing across multiple business units.
- Participate the ongoing development and implementation of supply chain strategies, cost-savings and inventory management initiatives and help facilitate and implement the initiatives at each Business Unit.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including the General Managers, Information Technology, and Corporate Procurement team.
- Supplier Management - strategically manage new and existing sourcing relationships with a focus on total cost of ownership and supplier value. Ensure a competitive advantage in overall quality, service, delivery/lead-time, value/price, compliance, and innovation and lead Supplier Relationship initiatives.
- Good interpersonal qualities, strong presentation skills to efficiently prepare and effectively deliver presentations to employee groups, peers, management, and executive management.
- Implement best practices in procurement and supplier management to support operational objectives
Requirements:
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a proven track record of achieving significant improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, MBA preferred
- 5+ years specific experience in direct material management and sourcing leadership across multiple businesses / locations
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Conceptual ability to look past current business practices and relate new concepts to design future business states.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills – written and verbal.
- US Citizenship required for this role due to access to ITAR Controlled Technical Data.
- Computer Literate –proficient in Word, Excel, ERP systems
- Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities
- Ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, and verify information or data.
- Proven Project Management skills
- MS Office Suite proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI) and ERP Systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with a variety of changing situations
- Proven Leadership skills (ability to drive and motivate without control)
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work well with others
