About The Role


10x Genomics is seeking a Vice President, Global Supply Chain. The Vice President of Supply Chain is an integral part of the executive team and will help lead the organization's growth strategy and oversee all day-to-day operations, with respect to sourcing, demand planning, inventory management, forecasting, inbound and outbound logistics, production planning, as well as raw materials and finished products.


In this role, the individual must be a self-starter, strategic thinker, action, and output driven, thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities, manage and build high functioning teams, and succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and within customer institutions. The role requires subject matter expertise in science and engineering, a highly analytical approach to problem solving in a collaborative environment.


Qualified candidates must have relevant knowledge and experience in semiconductor technology, life sciences, diagnostics, and serviced markets. A high level of communication skills is required to ensure seamless interaction across the multifunction teams at 10x Genomics. The ideal candidate is a strong leader that inspires confidence and followership and driven in implementing and managing world class quality processes that align with and propel business success.


This role will be based in our headquarters in Pleasanton, CA and will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Operations.


Responsibilities


  • Development and implementation of supply chain strategy and accountability systems
  • Developing a network of suppliers to ensure the company always has access to the materials it needs at competitive prices.
  • Ensuring suppliers meet quality standards for their products and supporting Quality to effectively root cause and correct issues that arise.
  • Partnering with cross functional leaders to develop strategies that align supply chain activities with business objectives.
  • Managing the efficient flow of material through the supply chain
  • Ensuring the company has adequate planning processes to ensure inventory to meet customer demand and working capital requirements.
  • Developing and implementing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs in supply chain operations.


What You Will Be Doing


  • Management of the inbound material planning group to ensure consistent material availability to meet manufacturing demand.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and implement quality systems and processes related to clinical supply chain operations. Ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP) and other quality standards.
  • Lead a staff of direct and indirect reports located across multiple regional facilities.
  • Accountability for management of all Supply Chain related budgets including procurement spend, PPV, 3rd party logistics, carriers, etc.
  • Oversight global distribution and warehousing operations
  • Develop and maintain the company sourcing and purchasing strategy including commodity management, vendor selection and evaluation, contract management, competitive sourcing, and material planning. Total annual spend > $250M.
  • Develop and maintain the policies and structure necessary to ensure optimum supply chain for achieving company goals and objectives.
  • Drive engagement by building and developing a high-performance team that consistently delivers Supply Chain KPIs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and logistics partners to ensure reliable and efficient supply chain operations. Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and address any issues or concerns.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, an1d mentorship to a team of supply chain professionals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic plans for clinical supply chain management, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including R&D, commercial/sales, customer service, quality assurance, and manufacturing, to align supply chain strategies and support the seamless execution of product launches and customer orders.
  • Drive the development of analytical tools and accountability systems to effectively manage supply chain performance KPIs across the company.
  • Strong and effective leadership experience with the passion to inspire, motivate, coach, and nurture a team focused on operational excellence. Attract, retain, and develop talent.
  • Daily management and oversight of the customer service and outbound logistics group with an emphasis on quality service and cost management.
  • Lead the demand planning and S&OP operations to ensure a high level of forecast accuracy for both the short and long term. Ensure adequate supply levels to meet demands and minimize any potential disruptions.
  • Lead ongoing efforts to achieve continuous improvement of the supply chain function through evaluation of new technologies and industry best practices.


Minimum Requirements


  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a global, highly technical environment, proven collaboration, and ability to thrive in a “start-up” environment.
  • Have a deep understanding of complex manufacturing processes and technology, preferably in semiconductor, micro-arrays, and life sciences.
  • MBA or advanced degree in engineering, life-sciences, supply chain management, or a related field. Prefer undergraduate degree in a technical discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of global quality requirements and guidelines related to supply chain management, including GMP and ISO13485
  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, including demand planning, inventory management, sourcing, procurement, production planning, transportation, warehousing, and distribution
  • Experience leading ongoing efforts to achieve continuous improvement of the supply chain function through evaluation of new technologies and industry best practices.
  • Experience developing and maintaining the policies and structure necessary to ensure optimum supply chain for achieving company goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, as well as external partners and suppliers.
  • Experience with the oversight of both the finished goods and raw materials warehousing operations.
  • Accountability for management of all Supply Chain related budgets including procurement spend, PPV, 3rd party logistics, carriers, etc.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, set strategic direction, and drive organizational change.
  • Proven track record of optimizing supply chain operations, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in the management of the inbound material planning group to ensure consistent material availability to meet manufacturing demand.
  • Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiations, and oversight of external suppliers and partners.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in supply chain management
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving supplier performance improvements.
  • Experienced leader w/ 15+ years of experience in progressive leadership roles within supply chain, preferably with a focus on consumables and instruments.
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and driving operational excellence throughout the supply chain.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different functions and levels of the organization.
  • Experience leading the demand planning and S&OP operations to ensure a high level of forecast accuracy for both the short and long term.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.


Preferred Skills And Qualifications


  • PhD degree in a relevant scientific field
  • Continuous improvement, Gemba Kaizen, Lean, &/or Six Sigma highly beneficial.


Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
