Job Description

About the Opportunity:
Sales Assistant to Partner | $60-70k
  • A true passion for art is vital in this role, as this Partner curates approximately 4-6 exhibitions per year ranging from the contemporary to the historical.
  • David Zwirner seeks a full-time Sales Assistant to work alongside one of the gallery's Partners.
  • Joining one of our most curatorially active teams, this position will involve significant contact with artists estates and established clients, and therefore discretion and poise are essential.
What you’ll do:
  • Liaise frequently with multiple departments within the gallery including Research, Client Development, Digital, Marketing and Registration to oversee projects that include:
  • Manage guest lists for exhibitions, dinners, events while supporting the Partner during openings.
  • Scheduling viewings, overseeing installs, and gathering all relevant materials for client visits.
  • Creating art fair booth models, exhibition checklists, Online viewing rooms, Sales previews, press packets among others
  • Facilitate in all aspects of exhibition development for Partner's estates and artists.
  • Create checklists, manage loan documentation, assist in the development of publications, and writing artist statements.
  • Manage the Partner's sales and facilitate with client relationships while formulating, sending out, and monitoring all sales offers.
  • Follow up on invoices, prepare insurance appraisals and consignment agreements.
What we would like you to have:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • BA in Art History and/or Arts Administration
  • At least 2 years related experience in supporting senior staff members in an arts related company, preferably a contemporary art gallery
  • A thorough knowledge of the Contemporary art and the art market is required, as well as a strong appreciation for Modern art and earlier time periods.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic landscape
  • Proficiency in other languages is an added value, but not essential
