Job Summary
Assists with retail food safety functions to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and programs throughout the organization. Supports implementations of food safety and protection opportunities within retail operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Investigates food safety incidents and food safety related customer complaints.
- Provides retail management with compliance information regarding food safety, sanitation, and pest control.
- Performs retail food safety audits and food safety training for a specified zone.
- Executes new store food safety audits and documents the results.
- Participates in county inspections performed prior to new store openings.
- Updates audit logs weekly and provides information to food safety leadership.
- Utilizes Origami reports to schedule store visits based on audit schedules, health inspections and pest control reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage time.
- May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
- Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret information.
- Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
- Ability to travel out-of-town, with overnight stay when applicable.
- Knowledge of federal and state food safety codes and methods.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Basic mathematical skills.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Certified Professional Food Safety credential preferred.
- Associate’s degree in a related field and zero to two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point certification preferred.
- Food Protection Manager Certification required or must obtain within 30 days.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

- Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 50 lbs.

- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop or crawl.
- Frequently required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel or squat.
- Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.
- Occasionally required to use fine finger movements (ex. sorting and typing).
- Frequently required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to sit, stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

- Work is generally performed in retail and warehouse environments.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme heat conditions (non-weather).
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).
- Noise level varies.
- Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.
- Occasionally exposed to hot surfaces.
