Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Scientist - Food Safety (Value Add Toppings/Ingredients) will play a key role in the Research and Development Scientific Services team and will apply innovative technology to help drive the development of new products in the Ready-to-Eat (RTE) segment needs for purposes of food safety, process interventions, process development, process improvement, technical support and trouble shooting. In this role, you will support the team and advanced analytical knowledge to generate and analyze complex and critical data on the entire process from live production, harvest, to commercialization or other segments of the process. Key Accountabilities
Lead and provide an in-depth knowledge to the entire process of new or existing Ready-to-eat food safety practices and processes by also providing mentoring and technical assistance to junior team members. Develop and handle high performance innovative processes, technologies, services, and solutions that deliver on Cargill’s commitment to food safety and the creation of new capabilities and labor expense reduction efforts. Conduct analytical samples and experiments following environmental health and safety guidelines in a high safety focused environment to create, perfect, and defense new and existing IP and Food Safety interventions. Represent Cargill’s RTE food safety working group to align, ensure collaboration and product technical expertise to other teams as to follow our strategic plan and to create a center of excellence. Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. Other duties as assigned
LOCATION Preference: Wichita KS, Fort Worth TX, Vernon CA, Nashville TN, Columbus NE or Wayzata, MN Preferred. Other Cargill Locations considered with travel. Hybrid approved. Remote considered as well, with travel of 25% to our Protein Facilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A Masters, or Ph.D. or equivalent experience. Previous experience in the RTE supply chain is highly preferred. Solid understanding of USDA/CFIA requirements (HACCP). Minimum of four years in Food/Meat Science, Food Safety or Food Processing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience Solid technical writing and understanding of statistical methods and software Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel) The ability to travel 25%
