Job Description
Responsibilities Conduct safety inspections and audits in all areas of the plant to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Conduct safety training for employees including blood borne pathogen, fire prevention, fall protection, electrical safety, hazard communication and confined space entry training. Identify potential hazards in the plant and work with management to implement corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries. Investigate accidents and incidents and prepare reports for management with recommendations for corrective actions. Ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual safety inspections are completed internally and scheduled and completed through external vendors in a timely manner. Coordinate with department supervisors to ensure safety protocols are followed and all personnel understand site-specific and job specific hazards creating and revising JSAs as appropriate. Conduct an annual review of company safety policies and make recommendations and changes appropriately. Maintain company safety documentation, such as OSHA logs, inspection reports, Safety Data Sheets, safety policies and procedures etc. Maintain company permits and ensure permits are paid, updated, and posted on time to ensure compliance with the City of Houston. Coordinate annual OSHCON safety consultation with the Texas Department of Insurance annually and ensure all recommended corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Order appropriate personal protective equipment and safety supplies on an ongoing basis. Conduct forklift certification training to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements. Work with managers and consultants to submit required environmental reports annually. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, health and environmental sciences, or a related field is preferred. 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred. Safety certifications are preferred. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards required. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software tools. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
