Looking to get a head start in the world of medical research? Our remote internship program is perfect for students or young professionals looking to gain real-world experience in the field. With medical specialists from both the Dominican Republic and the United States, our program offers a unique and diverse learning opportunity.
The primary focus of the intern research program is clinical research and writing. These students will have the unique opportunity to join a faculty member in completing an ongoing research project and/or create a new project proposal with his or her mentor’s guidance. Research volunteers will also gain valuable insight into the publication process, including opportunities to participate in co-authorship of research projects in journals.
Our interns work in diverse areas of medicine with specialists of different areas, including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Nutrition,Addiction Medicine, Substance Abuse Treatment, Mental Health Treatment, Primary Care, Crisis Response, Peer Support Services, Chronic Condition Management, and Psychiatry
Examples of possible of research projects:
- Health Services Research Internship: This type of internship involves working on research projects that aim to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of healthcare delivery and systems.
- Epidemiology Research Internship: This type of internship involves working on research projects that aim to understand the incidence, prevalence, and distribution of diseases in human populations.
- Public Health Research Internship: This type of internship involves working on research projects that aim to improve population health and prevent disease through the development and implementation of public health policies and programs.
- Translational Research Internship: This type of internship involves working on research projects that aim to translate basic scientific discoveries into clinical applications.
- Basic Science Research Internship: This type of internship involves working on laboratory-based research projects that aim to understand the fundamental biological processes underlying health and disease.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Currently in a course of study related to research or healthcare.
Ability to maintain professionalism and professional standards. Must have a sense of urgency. Set priorities. Identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently. Excellent communication and organizational skills for managing workflow and follow-up. Ability to demonstrate reliability and maintain confidentiality. Possess temperament and emotional intelligence for dealing with others professionally. Must have a “do-what-it-takes” attitude. Excellent speaking skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, physicians, industry professionals, and others in person or over the phone.
