Job Description
About Us

Our mission is to develop transformational genetic medicines utilizing novel gene editing delivery technologies, with an emphasis on diseases with significant unmet medical need. Our team is advancing multiple innovative approaches to deliver a variety of therapeutic payloads, focusing initially on gene editing in therapeutically relevant cells and tissues. Our world class scientific founders include Professor David Liu (HHMI, Broad and Harvard) and Professor Keith Joung (MGH and Harvard), and we are funded with a significant capital investment by leading life science venture capital firms including Newpath Partners, Atlas Venture, F-Prime Capital, and 5AM Ventures. We believe that our technology has the potential to positively impact patients suffering from severe genetic diseases, and we are committed to building an excellent, science-driven and diverse team that is passionate about making a difference. Nvelop Therapeutics is a stealth-mode biotechnology company based in Cambridge, MA.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and growth-oriented Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join our analytical development team. This individual will assist in the development, optimization, and application of analytical methods to characterize novel non-viral drug delivery vehicles. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of research and development scientists, the successful candidate will help establish core capabilities to measure the strength, purity, and potency of Nvelop’s drug products using a variety of biophysical and biochemical techniques. The individual will design and execute experiments, analyze data, and communicate experimental findings on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with relevant assays such as ELISA, quantitative PCR, light scattering techniques, and chromatography methods. Drive to execute, experimental rigor and scientific curiosity are key! We are a small and growing company, so the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize existing analytical methods to improve reliability, sensitivity, and throughput
  • Assist with regular maintenance of critical laboratory reagents and troubleshooting of advanced equipment
  • Develop suitable biochemical and biophysical tools for characterizing delivery vehicles containing engineered payloads used in genomic and epigenomic editing applications
  • Contribute ideas and present scientific findings at team meetings
  • Collaborate with research and process development groups to routinely characterize products and process intermediates
  • Design experiments, analyze data, and document laboratory work in electronic lab notebooks
Minimum Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following techniques: ELISA, qPCR, DLS, NTA, HPLC, LC-MS, and NGS
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, engineering, or a related field with 0-2 years of industry experience
  • Familiarity with mammalian cell culture and/or experience working with viral vectors/nanoparticles preferred
Additional Requirements:

Full time in-person work is necessary for this laboratory-based position

We work in facilities that require that all individuals working on-site are vaccinated for COVID-19
