Recreation Program Coordinator Jobs

We are seeking qualified applicants for full-time Recreation Program Coordinator. This position, depending on assigned area, determines program eligibility; schedules program events; coordinates use of facilities; oversees related program activity expenses; maintains program activity database; provides information about the activities; oversees volunteers; and provides additional support to the program as needed.

Successful candidates will demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, time management, motivation, leadership, and creativity. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location:

• Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center, Sterling, VA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supervises participants in daily activities, in accordance with program, facility, and Department policies and procedures; handles behavior issues; and documents.
• Coordinates recruitment, hiring and training of various program staff and activity supervisors and/or leaders.
• Oversees program budget and develops marketing plan.
• Contracts with vendors for services, materials, or equipment.

*Work schedule varies following operational hours and may include weekday, evening, and weekend hours.*

Salary commensurate with experience

Associate degree in a field related to the assigned program or department; two (2) years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bi-lingual skills including English preferred.
• Knowledge of volunteer development services.
• Knowledge of personal computers and how to use various programs including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and various computer programs for Department.
• Knowledge of basic accounting as it relates to program budgeting.

• Pass Child Protective Services (CPS) check.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Fingerprinting.
• TB test within 30 days of hire.
• Hold or obtain First Aid/CPR certifications at hire or within (4) months.
• Criminal background, credit checks and DMV records check required.
